The Matrix is an obvious one! I don't think it needs much explanation :P.

Well, there are some people who would consider "Kabbalah" to be in the category of "Gnosticism". I would agree ONLY in the sence that Dr Scholem talked about Kabbalah as a late spinoff of Gnostic soteriology and cosmology, but it is interesting none the less.

Ok, so the connection with Hollywood..... There is a show coming up on "E" (if I recall correctly in my rare changes from the Food network) that posits a Hollywood/Kabbalah connection.... especially via Madonna Is this the absolute destruction of Kabbalah? Is this soon to be the end of Gnosticism (did you know that Harvey Keitel claims to be "Gnostic"?)

Listen... if you are a Hollywood star, don't call yourself "Gnostic".... there is no need for advertisement! *lol*.

Serioulsy.... is the turning of an esoteric system into entertainment of this sort really it's end? Especially considering the belifs of Gnosticism!!!! Hollywood Gnosticims?

Harvey Keitel says he's a gnostic?!?

Well maybe, just maybe, there's a chance that he's a serious student of Gnosticism. :-D

But seriously, I also wonder how the Hollywoodization of Kabbalah will affect that tradition, what with Target selling red Kabbalah strings...

My own point, Space Debris!

The fact is, I absolutely doubt just how accurate Madonna is representig Kabbalah. I have argued against Kabbalah here, but I am actually for it on grounds that are hard for me to explian on a basis that I wish to donate time to here. Now I don't know for sure, but from the Kabbalistic view perhaps any advertising is good... BUT.... it is absolutely NOT true from the view of Gnosticism.

Granted, Harvey may be a little more critical view than Madonna, but the fact is there is no POPULAR view....... BY DEFINITION....... that can be Gnostic.

If I could send a message to the people who want fame, I would say..."Please, don't cheapen Gnosticism in the same way that Crowley and Maddona cheapen Kabbalah..... DON"T TELL ANYONE THAT YOU ARE AWARE!!!!! WE don't want, we don't need, your advertisement. This is not about gaining converts, that will come naturally and we are not looking!!!!

Is Harvey a Gnostic? Who the fuck cares? Ask only if YOU are interestid in what it means to be a Gnostic!!!!
