Resonance Magick

Resonance magick is going to sound a lot like sympathetic magick. Perhaps due to my lack of exploration in sympathetic magick I may make a few incorrect assumptions about it. That is what a forum is for, however: discussion and education (one should hope). Right, so resonance magick. This idea was sparked by seeing part of a topic header: "It's not about control."

Some will say that some forms of magick do not seek to control at all, but rather to harmonize. I've also taken to the philosophy of non-interference. Until I saw that header, I was content to leave my days of magick behind me. Then, the Witch inside of me asked a very good question: "can one practice magick without directly interfering with natural order?"

Lao Tzu says:

In the pursuit of learning, every day something is acquired.
In the pursuit of Tao, every day something is dropped.
Less and less is done
Until non-action is achieved.
When nothing is done, nothing is left undone.
The world is ruled by letting things take their course.
It cannot be ruled by interfering.

How can one become a better person, a better Witch (magician, mage, et cetera), a better Buddha? Well, according to Lao Tzu, but not "becoming" at all. We should just "let things take their course" - what Taoists call "non-action" or "working without doing." We should just relax, breathe, and let things happen. Don't do.

The highest good is water.
Water gives life to ten thousand things and does not strive.
It flows in places men reject and so is like the Tao.

There is currently a thread going on which is discussing how the though manifests as the deed. How does one become the other? How can one become the other without causing ripples in the highest good of water? What if you were the water? What if you were the change that you wanted. Instead of lurking about in the infinite regresses of cause and effect, what if you stepped outside of cause and effect. Outside the game. Outside of karma.

Don't do. Just be.

Resonance magick.

Actually I think the chinese notion of wu-wei or 'do nothing' is not about literally
doing nothing. But more in the way of acting without effort, spontaenously, without
thinking, which that behaviour can be learned and experienced with martial arts also.

How ironic that I just finished reading
about the concept of Wu-Wei when I
received your response! Now that I
know the "what" I need to find out the
"how." The link you provided appears
to be broken, however :(
