Practical Magick

Let's face it. Before we realized the need and worth of working on ourselves, I would wager that most of us were drawn to magick because of its "practical" or outer world uses and potential. We wanted to effect/change/milk the world. At least I did. And yes, practical magick does help the development within, in my experience, as well.
I for one still practice to produce change in the outside world, through various means. I would like this thread to be about how all of us use practical magick. Results, workings, experiences, plans, things like that. I have purposely left this thread fairly open ended. I hope to hear from everyone!:-D

I'm still not even at that low level. Or rather, I can do anything magical except getting practical results. If I could get the darned thing to work, I'd probably use Goetia evocation to get all the material things I ever dreamed about. (Nice big mansion with servants, a harem etc etc etc. Aim high.)

All that talk about the great work seems pretty far fetched, if one cannot even get laid with magick. I got much more often laid before I started with magick. I want my money back! :)

I got into magick for the same reason (as did Crowley, Mathers, Coelho, DuQuette etc, etc...), but I have come to the conclusion that for some people it is just a trigger used by higher forces? higher self? automatic response due to past lives? I don¨t know, and after some time these persons tend to dedicate themselves to the Great Work even more than others....
.
..
...
Well, other people either don¨t get what they want and leave or end up in the LHP!
But let¨s be optimistic!

I got into because I was a lonely programmer nerd who couldnt get laid. Now I dont even care about getting laid. It helped me get out my spiritual pit. I ventured on being a wiccan but that changed once i realized mindless chanting to a red candle and "Goddess" wasnt going to change anything.
"Emmancipate yourselves from mental slavery , none but ourselves can free our mind"
Thats the quoute that still drives me today.

Jinjo21) You never wrote if you did get laid or not, before you were tricked into thinking that it doesn't matter.

I can intermittently get information from Goetics. It is the kind of stuff that proves they exist but is of virtually no other value. All of my effort seems to have amounted to: We are here but forget about that â??dignityâ?? you asked for. Various senior members helped me (by posting informative replies to my topics) get to this stage having previously had only 5 months of practice at the LBRP, MP under my belt. Aside from that my only other â??talentâ?? is a pretty advanced ability to visualize 3D objects.

So basically, I agree with Grab except: 1. Donâ??t need any spiritual help getting laid. 2. Wouldnâ??t want a harem, one is just right (well maybe a harem of cars). 3. Wouldnâ??t want anyone but friends in my mansion.

So if any of you â??enlightened beingsâ?? want to share the â??true keyâ?? with me, I check my PMs all the time hoping someone will.

so it's all about the sex, is it?
i started practicing in order to survive, but that's neither here nor now.

practically speaking, i have Never used magick to get laid, never had that problem really (guess cus i'm a girl). i have used it to get places on time, play with the weather, stop things from falling (not a mind/psi thing for me), attract clientele at work, and most often: not get tickets from cops (and no, it's NOT cus i'm a girl).

the one practical thing i'd like to do magickally is get my hair to stop frizzing.

I ignored it for a long time, though it surrounded me. Nearly all of my friends practice or believe. I never really have. I dabbled a bit here & there but was mostly interested in reading the ancient history...and even then I never really did it whole heartedly.

Now I'm in it for something more practical then practicality...I'm in it to make myself a better person. Not by changing me though spell use, but by gaining purpose, setting goals and achhiving them, and disipline...of which I have little or none.

For a long time I wanted to live my life for another...but remained alone. I will likely remain alone (while I do not look for love, I'll certainly stop if I spot it along my path) I've decided to start living my life FOR ME.

Call me selfish if you wish...but I KNOW I'll be a better person in the end...and it was either Magick or Ninja training and I'm not all that dexterous so the choice was obvious.

I always used magic for practical reasons and only at times did it merge with my spirituality. I was very good at it instinctually, and pretty lazy, so I never worked much on developing particular skills as I saw and felt no need for them. I don't feel the need for much, actually, but now I am interested in development. I think that those who condemn others who use magic for practical reasons have a right to their opinion, just as does everyone, but condemning others reveals a lot about the person passing judgement. Of course, educating and condemning are not the same thing.

After rereading the original question, I wanted to add that I have used it to create change in the relationship of my friend when asked, I have created protections, I have assisted my own relationships, I have used it for employment, I have used it to "bend time" a bit, I have used divinitory methods to reveal the future, I have used to it become less noticeable, but I guess that goes in with protections. Lots of things. I have also had some success with altering my body functions through magic.

I've experimented with a few Sigils, most of which have worked: though not always as exactly envisioned.

The silliest one was simply for a Sushi dinner (something my changed financial situation doesn't let me indulge in). Nearly a few days later my college sent out an E-Mail advertising their "Sushi Knights" where you make your own food and eat it at a local restaurant.

In my limited experience so far, it seems the trivial things one wants are the easiest.. some of the things I believe I truly want have had little outcome, even after repeated attempts.

*laughs* yeah, worth a bump there, Shades. Hrm... In one sense, I did indeed get into magic for the practical end of things. But not for money (still broke), or power (why?), or sex (boo-ring!), but to make sure people don't get screwed over when they cock up.

I'M the one who gets to chew them out, not some random oni or water spirit out for a quick ride. Me!

the draw of magic for me was curiosity not desire.
or rather the desire for knowledge, perception, experience. and perhaps secondarily 'power' as well.

I didn't have any particular material goals in mind. still dont.

I think for me, it was my curiosity, I've a burning desire to understand how things work.

I suppose this is the reason I got into both magick and technology..

My 'magick' is primarily forms of energy work, which has been more of a natural evolving for me.

For me there is many reasons why I practice magick. It is practical, I have things I want to do with it. Achieve immortality for one, and it is a practical tool for my everyday life, but it is also something I do out of curiosity and because I think it can develop me as a person and make me more than I am. Magick has so many uses, it is simply marvelous. :D

I got into magick to help me with my love life. I did a Sigil last November to help me find a particular man of my idealism. I found him around the time I told the Sigil that I would like to meet him. Well I met him months before, but he really didn't take a hard sexual interest where I realized that he was "the one" until the date of of my Sigil was suppose to end.

This stuff does work.
I am the Sex Goddess.
