i liked that bit about cosmogony, and was confused reading the rest of that post because it seemed like you guys were actually agreeing with each other... but than i read the other reaponse from the other guy, and this post followed and i saw that you are actually a pretty intelligent guy.
i wasnt trying to "dis" anyone earlier with my comment about chaos magick. i think what dragonvry said was pretty impressive. i have known friends who have conditioned themselves to withstand long periods of fasting and who do it for a variety of reasons which they believe to be beneficial... but the methods they use vary, and none of them i would say use chaos magick, or are even very educated in occult matters at all.
you mentioned not having a mastery over the whole body-mind thing and it made me think. you mentioned earlier all the feats you have been able to achieve with magick, and seem competent enough, yet you were ready to argue QeZ's point at the drop of a hat... you responded to my post saying to "raise the bar".

We tend to look through the eyes of western traditions when we look at religio-magical advancement. What we, as a group, are failing to do is realize the extent the of influence of Mahayana Buddhism on the whole subject! Dissolution of Ego is simply one facet of the entirety of Mental Processes. It is not the lone goal. One group sold a "package-belief & process", and though they had a good idea, it doesn't hold up in the real world!
Fact: We are alive.
Fact: We are multicellular life.
Fact: There is an agreement of mutual support in the multi-cellular existence.
Fact: One of those 'agreements' is to feed that community.
Fact: Eating ANYTHING is an act of Aggressive Superiority.
The "Program" that is Ego is a survival technique, rooted in the very survival of the individual, as a species.
The very brain you use to develop these ideas is a direct result of Survival of The Fittest: "Me! Mine! Now!"
Such a conflict of interest, between the Source & the Goal of a life form, is incomprehensible, when examined as a "Whole Story".
(Like people using TV. to say how much TV needs to be stopped!)
Story time!:
"Once upon a time, there was a group of Tonsured Brahman pilgrims, that left India to find out where the sun went to bed at night. They followed it's path throughout Eurasia. Their final destination was Ireland. We call them Celts, now. The only aspect of their origin that remains is a frightening similarity in language & music.
Their Ideology could not withstand confrontation with the real world.
Any ideology, no mater how pretty or well-intended, that cannot survive contact with the real world, is False.
Dissolution of Ego is a wonderful pursuit, but is antithetical to the very real nature of the world.
It is a tool, but cannot be our end goal, as it breaks the very agreement our core, multi-cellular existence is based upon!
Any form of spiritual advancement must be along a path of development. That path must be rooted in the origin of the species ON that path. If the two are at odds, it is not a Goal, so much as a possible course.
If I were to be likened to any faith, it would be Druidism.
The truth is all around you, if you just look around you. If life is a manifestation of some divine course, then that divine must reside in the world that it created. "One cannot create anything it does not contain. That includes "Evil"."
Think of Baron Münchhausen: When he was returning from the moon, he thought he could cut away from the top of the rope, and splice it to the bottom.
It don't work that way.
You cannot remove your foundation because you think it no longer serves a purpose.
I do incorporate many "specialties" of other faiths into my practices. I find resolution between them, and employ them, but if I can't, I don't.
"Dissolution of Ego" is a tool with a purpose. When that purpose is done, you put that tool away.
One the other hand, "Fasting" is an unnatural state, as are many other practices we take as being mandatory to spiritual advancement. It is a violation of the tenets of your multi-cellular existence. It's the kind of violation that led to the French Revolution.
The idea of Dissolution of Ego is under the pretense that we were Created, not Evolved.
Evolution does not disprove the existence of Magic. It simply qualifies as another variable to take into consideration in our development.
Take the very-direct aspect of Celibacy. It's a Buddhist Virtue. If they all practiced it, they would have died out a looooooooong time ago.
