I didn't want to let this die out. Skavan was brought up in an LJ Chaos community (chaoscurrent), so I thought it was time to refresh the memories of those who were here for his creation, while introducing to him to newer folk.



Skavan was created after hitman777 (?) wanted to to try a group project. We decided on a servitor to help with creatively overcoming obstacles. He has the form of a rat in overalls and a yellow hardhat, wielding a sledgehammer and smoking a cigar. He has an... interesting personality.

He's helped me a few times, and quite effectively. My results have been through sudden insights into the problem, usually very detailed.

I'd like to hear from those who were part of his creation and/or how he worked for others who called on him.

He worked very well.

A short summary:
I was in a living situation in which I needed a distinct change. I called on skavan formally (ritua) several times, and also several impromtu communions (in the heat of intense physical exercise (fat-tire!!! RIDE HARD!!!).
I gave the conditions that the individual I needed effected stop living at my residence at the beginning of June . . . although that time-frame had never been otherwise presented.

The individual was only at my place (which is where they lived at the time) for a total of 3 day that month, and were completely moved out by the beginning of July.

I call that as total of a success as anyone can expect!!!
Particularly since the whole process turns out to have been to everyones advantage. (not to anyones detriment was a condition)

On occasions I would draw his sigil on the bike path, to include any other bikers "energy" with my to feed skavan . . . other times I would burn a nice blunt in ritual to feed him. I found him easy to call to conscience, very friendly.

I may call on him again soon (as we're planning on moving and this may be an easy task to excel at).

I also drew a picture of skavan after all was done. I'm not entirely sure if this came from a real communicated desire of Skavans . . . or just something "made-up" in my mind. But, it doesn't really matter, because I have the distince feeling that it was appriciated (although artistically horrible ).

Skavan also has the ability of self-replicate. (is that called holographic ?)

As evidenced by the sigil, skavan is an air elemental / servitor.

Its been noted previously that he sometimes is over-willing to take a task, even if its more than he can honestly accomplish. Personally, I don't see this as a bad thing. I know I sometimes do the same thing . . . and I'm not a servitor. They sorta should . . . in my opinion.

Skavan (for me) is a sorta New York city rat, tunnel and constuction worker type . . . a bit knarly, but pleasent.

Holographic was the word used in his SOI. I wanted him to easily be available to all of us for workings.

As evidenced by the sigil, skavan is an air elemental / servitor.

I had that in mind when I drew his sigil. It's the only time I used an elemental sigil as part of another sigil.

Its been noted previously that he sometimes is over-willing to take a task, even if its more than he can honestly accomplish.

When I gave him my problems, his response was along the lines of, "Done! Is that all you got?". He was always a bit cocky, but very likeable.

Before I forget, I just want to thank everyone who was a part of Skavan's creation and development. It was my first collaboration with others (I'm almost strictly solitary). It flowed easily along and I'm very happy with the results. Thanks for the pleasant experience.

Yes, it was a good experience. We seem to have brought about a very effective problem solver.
Usually when I ask for his help, when the goal is accomplished I offer a cup of coffee. I think it suits his personality well. I also see him as the construction worker stero.

My experiences with Skavan have been okay. He has produced results. However, he also seemed to display a tendency to get ahead of himself. He wanted to take on extra jobs, and actually asked me if it would be alright to do this. Personally, on my end, I believe that he bit off a little more than he could chew. I mainly seperated him from me because he failed to accomplish a job he volunteered for within the timeframe I had specified for him. Looking back though, I probably would've been a bit more leniant, because he did help me out very successfully on a number of projects.

Really, Baphmetis, you can work with him in a number of ways. Try evoking him. Or give him a material basis, contact him astrally through his sigil, draw him down into it, and begin making "offerings" to the material basis. Let him know that he is to live in the material basis when not working for you.

Thanks for clearing that up. I should have known I was expected to make up my own rituals or magical approach to this :rolleyes:. The material basis it is then, for now. I just have to think of a task to assign.

Though my name was Gamskee, I threw some energy into the mix and wrote some stories as 'hypersigils', though I am unsure of how well they did.

He was alwasy full of useful advice for me. Don't know why, probably because I gave him abstract tasks.

I have a bit of a problem with all this....not that I doubt for one minute that Skavan or other servitors work........far from it

it is just that I cannot communicate and would be very interested in HOW you all actually speak or communicate with your Servitors

Are you all that skilled in getting to the Astral plane?

Do you just throw a question out and wait for impressions from the Servitor in question?


just curious and in NO way am I doubting anybody on here....I am just lacking in this ability myself so would like to hear from you all

I, for one, am not THAT skilled . . . although, I am currently focusing alot of my effort on AP.

I usually call a servitor, ritually, and continue to until I 'feel' like its right or enough. Then (usually) I make my statement, request, comment/thought and assume that the servitor is there, listening and hearing.
I try to pay attention to what I feel/think during or shortly after the ritual moment . . . again assuming that anything unusual or particularly suggestive of a response to my position is the servitor.
Not being very clairivoyant or "psychic", its sometimes difficult to determine when I really think its the entity and when I'm just making it up.
In order to help strengthen the belief, I assume anything that is in my head afterwards that is consistant or agrees with how things actually work out to be the servitor having 'talked' to me.

Here is a method that I use when dealing with servitors eregores ect.:

Charge their sigil (the spirit's "signature" so to speak) as well as you can, trying to call out its name as powerfully and loudly as possible (mentally of course...but you could do it vocally)

Then, create a sigil or representation to fix your problem or whatever, but try to mentally connect both sigils and mentally ask that the servitor fix the problem detailed in the sigil.

It sounds somewhat complicated, but if you have doubts about whether you are talking to it or not, and it interfers with results....I say avoid having to talk to it at all.

Edit: I meant by "avoid having to talk to it" something more like "avoid having to have dialogue with it". You are still going to have to speak to it, you just won't have to really listen to an answer.

I'm a little "headblind" myself. When I need a definite dialogue with a Servitor, I use a pendulum. I use the Servitor Sigil as the "Witness". I sometimes surround the witness with a ring of sea salt and asafoetida. Smells but works! Then I Evoke by whatever means I deem necessary at the time. It seems to work.

You know, I may just have to Call Skavan. I have a few stumbling blocks to overcome. I just need to determine which ones are important for me to handle on my own. Without lady Strife, no one would strive.

I was playing with the winds, and I just kinda hit a Magician's Block...like a writer gets Writer's Block. I was doing it all right, but it just wasn't making the winds do what I wanted. I call to Skavan to help me overcome the block, and BOY did I! Instantly almost. I will definitely not forget his name lol.

Well, I just wanted to say that although I've been aware of Skavan for some time, I hadn't needed to use him until very recently. I've been installing a phone system over the last few days and hit a serious problem with the cabling. Basically I didn't have whats called a 'krone' tool to terminate the cabling into a PBX wiring loom. I didn't realise this at the time and in fact was only aware of some serious buzzing on the lines. I finished on Sunday night about 11:00pm still with this problem on the phone system I'd just installed.

Got home, read some OF (it's part of my education now) and came across the Skavan thread which got me thinking. I thought alot about the problem, powered Skavan through my determination to get this fixed and asked him to help me isolate the problem. Well, the next day I sourced a 'real' telco engineer at the first time of asking, a guy who lived locally, turned up at the offices within 20 minutes of my call and finished off the cabling in about 30 minutes. Best of all he only charged £50. I now know that I needed the 'krone' tool to have any chance of finishing the cabling off and got a bit of a free education on how to wire-up old analog systems/
