Opinions on The Temple of Set
Original post: Zarathustra
Hello all. I am new to the forums and am interested in learning about the LHP insofar as it relates to the official Temple of Set. Are there any members of the ToS lurking on these forums who could share some of their experiences with me? Please do not direct me to their official web page or to Balanone's ToS info page as I am already familar with their contents. Thanks.

They have wonderful public resources,however
I'd ask Set himself on wether or not to join,
it varies from person to person. If you're already in
contact with him,you can varify a lot of what
he will teach at the ToS.
Go to the podcast page, some of the best Setian discources
ever to grace the internet and some damn good music too.

Thank you for your prompt response, however, I have no desire to ask "Set" anything that I can figure out for myself. From what I understand of Setian teachings, and more importantly, from my own learning and experience, this form of rationality is preferable to the blind fideism I think your response may (or may not) represent. Thus, I ask again, can any bona fide (i.e. official member) of the ToS share some of their experiences with me? I am in no way asking for information that such a person would not be at liberty to share, but rather the wisdom garnered from the experiences of those who have had to wrestle with this decision before me.
BTW, thank you very much for pointing me to the podcasts, I was not aware of them.

It would appear that you do not recognize the elementary fact that not everyone in the world shares your assumptions. Thus, a response that may seem perfectly logical and cogent to yourself may come across as poorly thought out and not well developed to others. This being so, "and your point is...?"

I supose you only wanted opinions that you already agree with?
Oh well

He asked for the opinions of members of the ToS and for them to share their experiences with him so that he might know if it was right for him. He only wanted relevant opinions, which you cannot offer.Satans_Serrated_Edge wrote:The title of the thread is 'opinions on the temple of set'

Why is it that CoS Satanists feel a need to use the same terms that Anton used? It sure makes you look an awful lot like the blind victims of the dogma of an organized religion. Some alternatives words you might want to express the same thing but without giving the impression that your beliefs conform rigidly to the words of a dead man might include "false hope", "fantasy", "golden dream", or a personal favorite, "wishful thinking".Feel free to explore the plethora of spiritual pipedreaming possibilities.

But spiritual pipedreaming is much more specific to religious belief.
I used the term as not to sound ambiguous, as your sugestions would have.
For the record, I am not a CoS satanist. I feel the current CoS has fallen into hypocracy, especially where pretention is concerned. That does not change anything about what Satanism is, mind you.

If you had read my initial post more carefully, then you would see that the "opinions" I am seeking are the experiences of actual ToS members. What is your deal anyway? Are you or were you ever a member of the ToS? If not, then do you have an axe to grind against them? If so, then please elaborate. If not, then why are you wasting your time responding to a question that was not posed to you?

There's a couple of other threads that may help you out. I'm sure that Q has compiled a better list than that. Try the stickies.
EDIT: Yes he did. This may help, too.

I think you are very wise. Im not a believer in any deity or a godform or whatever so that might be why I sai this but to ask Set anything is ridiculous. I dont think there would be possible to even have a communication like that even if a Set being did exist. Thats just my two cents though. Its great that you see the importance to decide on this yourself.
Erik Kauchen of the otder of the trapeziod in the temple of set used to post here inder the name "Trapeziod". I believe he just lurks around now from time to time but never posts. Try to get in contact with him or someone else from the Temple based on the e-mail adresses that are out. If they dont want to talk about certain things to a non-member you can always apply for membership since the first two years if membership is the try-out period of that organization. Basically thats when you get more info in the temple and thats when you establish contacts with setians to see if the org is something for you. If you really like the setian philosophy I see no reason not to try that way really. I believe it $85 bucks a year which isnt that bad anyway (not more or less than most other serious organizations charge).

Go to the Runa Raven homepage and order Don Webb's (former High Priest) Mysteries of the Temple Set: Inner Teachings of the Left Hand Path. Or just send an e-mail with questions to the address at the bottom of the page which may just end up in Stephen Flowers' mailbox...

I am skeptical, as a general rule, of those who claim to have recieved divine word directly from their deity. Lest we not forget Moses, Muhammad, and Paul. To be fair however, I haven't read about the ToS in depth, and Seven Faces of Darkness: Practical Typhonian Magic is on my Amazon wish-list, so I reserve ultimate judgement.

They're an odd bunch but they're not actually worshipping a deity. It's a bit more...complicated...then that.

All of Don Webbs books are good resources. I'd recomend "lords of the left hand path" by Stephen Flowers as well. It poses as a objective but its very much subjective with the ToS theories in mind. As long as you are aware of that it is a good read.

I would also try asking Zeena Shreck's organization on how they feel about ToS as they seem to have the most conflict with them.

I would encourage you to avoid Satanism in all its forms. Certainly Yahweh and Beezlebub are real although they go by many names. I have been tormented by Satan, and the victim of all sorts of illusions and deceptions. Please be warry and careful lest you fall into the abyss. Nietzsche was a thouroughly brilliant man and fell in. Our minds are nothing as compared to the intellilect of the supernatural powers. It was Nietzsche's pride that led to his downfall and my pride which led to my fall.
I write to you as a fellow philosopher in the regards to remind you that to be a friend of wisdom means to be a lover of God. Philosophers which expouse the advancement of man without giving thanks to the creator are vain in essence and influenced by Satan. Be warry too that while me are mere chaff in comparison to Satan, that Satan is mere chaff in comparison to the merciful and just God.
BE warry to that you repent of your sins so that sanctifying grace may be restored to you and that you may regain the friendship and love of God.
Remember, that Satan promises power but he strips the self of that power and suplants your true voice with his own, theirin coinferring the power upon himself. The German philosophers themselves are excellent examples. Nietzsche went insane because he was listening to the voices of demons and his was own true voice was all but obliterated. Wittgenstein struggled and nearly lost his voice altogether as well. God's only restrictioon on your voice is that you use it for teh furtherance of the kingdom of heaven. Be mindful.
By any regards I would encourage you to read Jonah before further considering any influence of SAtanism upon your mind.
Faithfully,
Brian
