Past Lives, A King and a Cannibal

I have known people who thought they were reincarnated, who seemed to have memories of past lives, who spoke as children of other parents, who drempt repetitively of the same past life, etc.

As for me, I am not sure if it is real or who I was, but once as a child, I had a dream that I was someone else, and I died. I also drempt of my enemy. In that dream, I was a king, and YES, YES, I KNOW that everyone says that people who say this are BS, and have low self esteem, blah, blah. While I do have low self esteem, I was a kid when I dreamed this, did not believe in reincarnation at all, and prob. would not have chosen to be a man in my past life, at said time. I am pretty sure, at that time, I would have picked a lovely woman, and not an out of shape man to play me in a past life fantasy. Also, I prob. would NOT have chosen to had died in a sword fight, because I would have detested the idea of losing to someone I hated so much. Does anyone know of any king who died in a sword fight when they were stabbed in the stomach?

I've had a few reincarnation dreams, but some of the others were BIZZARE. Not possibly real in the sense of being literal. One involved cannibalism and mythological creatures. The first (cannibalism) is possible, the second (mythological creature), not in physical form, I do not think. Not this kind, anyway.

I am trying to piece together some things to figure out who I might have been. Does anyone have any advice?

There have been countless royals through the course of history that died in sword duels. But have you considered that your dream may be symbollic rather than a past life?

In all honesty, most people who claim to have seen into their own past lives have quite the ego with the majority claiming to be some ruler rather than a nobody. It strikes me as their fantasy combatting their inadequacies than anything else (this does not necessarily apply to you).

But consider this: astronomers referring to thier statistics determine that it is more probable that there is alien life than not. This said, we are apart of a very large universe and the worlds that we may have seen in past lives would be phenomenal - more worlds than grains of sand on every beach on this world. With these odds, the odds of you even being human in a recent past-life is highly unlikely (assuming that we are reincarnated randomly isolated from all other factors).

Who am I to deny your now gone royal blood? No one; but it would be wise to take in multiple hypotheses in such a broad scope.

Cloacina_:

If you are interested in learning about your past lives the easiest thing is to see a hypnotist for a past life regression. I would recommend someone certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists (if you are located in USA).

Ian Stevenson, a psychology professor, did a great deal of research on the spontaneous memories of past lives by children. Brian Weiss, another psychologist, has written a great deal about hypnotic past life regression.

My experiences with past life regression certainly seemed real enough.

The Dark Necromancer:

I tend to disbelieve anyone who says they were Cleopatra or Henry VIII too. Most people who have experienced hypnotic past life regression remember lives as ordinary schlubs doing ordinary things, which seems more realistic to me.

And if these hypnotic experiences are to be believed, reincarnation is not random. People remember making choices as to when and where they would be born, even choosing their parents.

Many people do remember lives on other planets under hypnosis. I find it interesting that Kurt Cobain believed from an early age that he was born on the wrong planet. Who knows...maybe he was.

So, are past lives real? I think so... but I've been wrong before.
Your mileage may vary.

I would be wary of accidentally implanted memories, like so many "I was ritually abused as a child be teh satanism!" hypnotism patients.

I keep telling people I was Queen Sheba but no one believes me. *sigh* To answers question people have asked: 1)Yes the women making love to King Solomon in the book Songs of Solomon was me when I was Queen Sheba. 2) Yes I did witness King Solomon summoning demons.

Thank you all for the responses. As I said, I realize even believers in reincarnation scoff at anyone claiming to be royalty or anyone rich, famous, talented, or powerful. While I can understand why this would raise suspicion, IF reincarnation is real, surely someone was once royalty, rich, famous, talented, or powerful. Of course, since most people are not born into these things, and since there are also animals, and possibly non-human life on other planets, I will admit, that the majority of people may have never been these things in a past life, even if reincarnation is real. BUT someone or something (some life- maybe your house cat, maybe your neighbor) would have been, and it's as likely to have been you or me as anyone or anything else.

Quite honestly, though, I certainly am not egotistical and was not as a child. And as for the theory of people claiming such lives, having low self esteem and trying to create themselves as more amazing people in past lives, I have this to say. First off, as I said, I was young when I drempt this, and while I remember at some point in my younger years my self esteem did get depleted somewhat, I am pretty positive that at the time I drempt this, I had better self esteem than I now do. Also although- like many kids, I would think- I did at times image myself as someone else in imaginary situations, and while I did like them to have wonderful traits (hey, lots of kids imagine being super heros or princesses or something right?), at that age, I always imagined that I was female- and better looking. lol. Also, I did not like to imagine that I lost fights. I liked the idea of being strong. This was an out of shape man who lost to his enemy whom I rather loathed. Now, it is possible a fantasy in my sleep could turn into a nightmare and things may not go as well as I would imagine when awake, I still at the very least doubt I would have desired to have been a man, or someone who was not very attractive, given the choice in either case. I'll admit, if we have multiple lives, I'd like to be both genders, but when I was a little girl, despite my love of daydreaming, I had no waking fantasies about being an out of shape man- even a powerful one. If I was coming up with something to compensate for low self esteem, I would have made him look a bit diff. I believe, at least. Also, at that time, would have most likely chosen a woman, as well, as I said. These days, I could see myself choosing either gender, but not then, and even now, given to complete fantasy, I'd make myself a handsome man, anyway, even though looks aren't everything, nor most important on my list of desirable traits, but hey, if it's a fantasy, why not go all the way?

Secondly, at that time I did not believe in reincarnation and third, I am not saying I was a king. I don't even know if I believe in reincarnation, and also, I know many times a dream is simply a dream. I also believe, as dark necromancer pointed out, that dreams are often symbolic. So even if it had an important message for me, it could well have symbolized something else. Besides, it could have simply been a fantasy I had in my sleep.....just a story my mind showed me when I was alseep that had no importance. So I am not under the belief that it was definitely a past life. I was just curious as to who might fit the bill. In fact, even if it matched with the death of a real king, I would not assume it was definitely a past life of mine. It is possible I had seen or read something and it resurfaced in my dreams. However, I was a lot younger when I dreampt this, and it is the closest thing I have to a potential past life memory, so I'm just asking some what if's.

I also realize I need more info than "a king who died in a fencing duel". However, surprisingly, within England at least, there were not that many kings who died from being stabbed in the stomach during sword fights from what I have found. Of course, he was not necessarily English. I still have other places to check out. While the dream happened long ago, causing me to forget some details, and the dream was not very detailed anyway, as far as I recall, I did get some other clues. For example, I am not counting battles, because I was not in a battle. I was in a building and I feel it was his house that he was in, and he was alone with the man. I found info. on one king stabbed at a party, but a knife was used not a sword, location on the body was not mentioned, and there were many people around. In my dream I was alone with him and it was a sword. It seems like I read about someone being stabbed in the chest, but I'm unsure if I am just imagining reading such a thing. Anyway, my guy was stabbed in the stomach, so I toss anything saying the wound was elsewhere. I also tried taking people who seemed the closest possible matches and checking the king's photo, pics of their killers, and pics of their wives to see if they look the same as those in my dream. So far, nothing has impressed me much, quite admittedly. I am certainly not running around seriously telling everyone that I am sure I was once a powerful ruler and got taken out during a brave sword fight. And honestly, it wasn't so much courage it felt like, but hate and anger and then.....well, what choice did I have?

As for my other dream, I have likewise considered the possibility that it, too, is symbolic, and it may very well be, especially considering how bizzare it was. I have tried figuring out what it could mean from a symbolic standpoint (have figured out some things, working on figuring out others), and am also trying to figure out what it could signal from a past life standpoint, as well (how could the bizzare things actually be plausible, for example). I am not assuming the past life is the only interpritation. Just curious as to, if it was a past life, what could this part and that part of the dream suggest? What country does this sound like, etc.? This is more curiosity than anything. That life was somewhat fantastical, and somewhat romantic, but I was no one special, and honestly, I rather dislike who I was in that life in my dream. During my dream, part of me wanted to believe it was someone else, and not me at all.

I admit if reincarnation is real, most of us were prob. never royalty or famous people, and those of us that were, if we had lived many lives, would most likely have been poor, or little known individuals far more often than they were rich and famous. Basing possibilties of reincarnation on odd fears, habits, and birthmarks, I come up with less wonderous conclusions. lol. For example, my odd physical characteristics and birth marks would lead one to believe I was a drug addict, and a criminal.

As for past life memories as Henry VIII, I do not think that was the King in my dream, and anyway, I really hope I was never anyone so foul. The sight of him makes me sick to my stomach. He makes me angry. He was a sick, sick, disgusting man, and I would feel foul if I owned something he'd touched. I may not be anyone who has the right to judge, but I cannot stand him, and I hope I never was him because it is far from something to take pride in.

Oops. I almost forgot to reply to the idea of hypnotic regression. I would love to do so and have found a lady fairly nearby who does this, BUT past life regression is expensive and I am poor. I've been trying to see if there is anyone doing groups. I have seen this on television and figure it is cheaper.

Once when I was riding in the car during a snow storm, I had this strange sudden "memory" that I died in the mountains when I was looking for help for my mom and brother. I was about four or five years old, and we'd had some kind of car accident or something, and I was walking around in the snow looking for someone to help. I believe we were on the way to a relative's house...I was dressed in a really nice dress and black leather shoes, my hair was long and black and I had pink ribbons at the ends of my hair. We were driving in a small car and my brother was wearing a baeball cap. We were joking around about something when someone hit our car, we spun off, and they just kept driving away. I was in the passenger seat up front. My mother was struck unconcious and my brother was thrown into the front seat because he was unbuckled. I kept yelling at them to wake up and when they wouldn't I went to look for someone, and eventually just sortive fell asleep somewhere in the snow, and I didn't wake up.

I'm not sure if it was real or just a very strange daydream, but it seemed like a very real memory...I was basically in tears in the back seat while it was going through my head.
