I'm casting...and in come the spiders?

I've recently taken up...I don't like the word witchcraft, since I don't think of myself under any sort of label. I've started casting, enchanting herbs and making satchets for friends and for myself, I read Tarot, and I'm studying Scottish/Pictish magic since it appeals to me and feels somehow right due to my heritage as a Scotch-Irish gal. Ever since I've begun doing this, I've been seeing spiders. Some are real, but some...I feel like I should be laughing at myself for saying this, but some seem to dissappear as soon as I notice them. The reason why I'm posting is because this just, in fact, happened to me AGAIN a few minutes ago; I was enchanting a small prayer-box type necklace for a friend to help her with a court case, I finished, looked down, and saw a tiny yellow, leggy figure hanging from the bottom of the desk I was using as an altar. I jumped back, startled, and I blinked...and the spider was gone.

I'm curious as to whether or not this may be a coincidence or some sort of...magical side effect. Or if I'm simply seeing things because I'm tired; I do know that after I engage in any sort of "magical" act I feel quite exhausted, and it may be my tired brain conjuring up images. I've seen spiders a few times when reading cards for friends or for myself, and they seem to be quite attracted to me; I find them outside my apartment, around my car when I leave it parked overnight, and hanging peacefully from my bathroom mirror. As normally I'm somewhat of a "gross, bugs, get away" sort of person, the fact that these spiders don't really illicit that same sort of disgusted or squeamish response intrigues me probably more than the fact that they're all of a sudden stalking me.

Does anyone have any insight as to what this may be? I'm reading up on totems and such, but I've never felt any kinship with spiders and this doesn't really feel like a totemic experience.

Thanks! :)

Sorry to sound anal - but please - Scots or Scottish, scotch is a slang term for whisky.

I'm Scots,it's a bit annoying.Sorry.

I say look up as much spider lore as you can, seek the reason for the sign.It seems to be a sign to me.

The sensible in me,says also - get an eye check up,just to be safe.

Got to say that, get it out of the way.

It could be coincidence too,but it's worth checking out magickally.

Are they different sorts or is it one species particularly?

The internet is a great resource,so if you are unsure of type looking at some pictures may trigger something too.

It interests me that you don't get your usual 'bad' response.

Even if you don't find a definitive answer, you will be more knowledgable than before,at least about spiders - so it's all good.

It seems to have all the earmarks of a magickal experience.

Maybe someone is watching you and you have attracted their interest.

Or it is a totemic experience in that "the spiders" are saying something to do with their attributes and your current situation and nothing about spider totems. Maybe you need to bring what the represent into your life.

I would suggest reading as many spider man comics as you can come across.

Spiders weave. I wonder if there's a connection to weaving magick? Just a thought.

In some Native American cultures, the spider is the weaver of creation. I can't recall which cultures off hand, but I have read a children's story that had used this theme.

Ive also seen several references to Hindu belief also using a spider as the weaver of creation.

Spiders weave but I would be carefull to. Spiders can also be tricksters to look at the African trickster Anansi. Thatsn not to say that you can't learn anything from things like Anansi, Raven, Coyote, ect. But often times they are what you need to learn but that your not always prepared to learn.

I can't say anything about the spiders (just research), but I might know why you are feeling tired after magical workings. Normally that is because you aren't grounded enough, and end up drawing energy from yourself, instead of the earth/universe/whatever. You should come out of that kind of stuff absolutely electrified. (sorry about being off-topic.)

Perhaps it's like a metaphor. Kinda like weaving your own existence and weaving your own fate. Of course with that comes some really interesting adventures.

Okay, not really sure what the spiders could mean exept for the things already said. It might also be a local spirit of some kind that manifests itself through spiders maybe, but I really dont know how that would work... And the fact that half of my occult knowledge comes from RPGs probably makes me an unreliable source, so dont assume I'm right. In fact, assume I'm wrong. I already do.

Whatever you are working with is trying to scare you, or has not yet become accustomed to you, they don't like being used, and they donâ??t warm up to newcomers quickly. just ignore them and keep doing what you are doing, they'll come around and accept you eventually, it happened to me when I started ages ago, and when I finally established a good rapport with whom I was working they started to appear as big black ants, and sometimes butterflies, same thing happened to many people I know or taught.

One thing though, if you are in the middle of the magical work and you see them, just let them be; if it actually touches you then you can kill it or flick it away. Any other time you can do what you like.
