Having been born in India, I have worshipped rivers, mountains, trees, reptiles, animals, birds & indeed what not but most important of all SUN. Sun is source of all life on earth - no wonder Sun is considered as a god in India and finds a proud place in hindu pantheon. It is said to bestow, bless and shower physical, mental & spiritual gifts on the person who worships It.

Sun Worship
Original post: Rin Daemoko
Despite being Buddhist, it's very difficult for me to not venerate the Sun. The Sun shines equally in all directions without exception, and is therefore a perfect symbol of complete enlightenment. Without the Sun, crops would fail, the march of weather patterns would falter, and all life would perish.
The Sun can be relied upon because, despite cloud cover, eclipse, darkness, or one's location, the Sun will always be there.
