Lilith (Part II)

Post by Occult Forum Archive »

Original post: Aerdrie

I posted on the witchcraft forum about trying to invoke / contact Lilith... though I put that there because of my belief in the "correctness" of witchcraft ritualistic styles... The debate moved away from my intended direction and moved into the realm of the occult belief of Lilith in the first place...

Well, what has occured between the time I had opened that thread and now, I've come across a new goal in order to do this and instead of trying to contact her, enter a deeper spiritual cycle of my life where I take a very nun-like lifestyle based around my worship of her, essentially "marry" myself to her until such time as she blesses me visions and whatnot...

but, what I'm wondering, is what would be a good way for me to build an altar to her, or otherwise create a focus for my beliefs in her, what would be a good way to offer to her... what can I do to achieve this?

Keep in mind I have no spare money right now, I live on disability currently and I'm dealing with a deadbeat roommate... so I need solutions that will cost little, or if possible... nothing... I have an endless bounty of time, and I don't mind devoting time to crafting things within the capabilities of my paltry skills...

so, if you can, please give me some ideas/suggestions... or if you wish, just move this into the same direction as the previous thread and lets just discuss Lilith... either way it's a win-win in my opinion :)

well, for me, I've dealt with Lilith in the past. I called Her last night for the New Moon. What are some suggestions that I may have? Just to work with Her as much as you can. The more that you work with Her, the more it will get better for you and Her. Lilith is not an evil Deity. She feels to me like a Powerful Goddess, but can be bad or good. Depending on how you feel during your ritual.
Hope this helps ya some. I was confused a little too about Lilith. But, I just would search for Her on the internet.

The debates are probably because she appears all over from acient babylon to Crowley's Thelema (where in liber 418, 2nd aethyr he has the revelation that BABALON=LILITH=NUIT).

I think everyone agrees she most definately has a dark side.

You should be aware that her name appears on the logo of the Church of Satan - so she is associated by many to the darker side of the occult.

I have a statue of her in my temple and always work with her as my Lilith/babalon archetype for Binah - devine feminie.

I have a statue - by Paul Borda of Dryad Designs - which I keep on my alter. There are also some good classical paintings of her also you can pick up from the internet. Get a scan of the LUST card from the Thoth Tarot - this shows babalon/lilith riding the beast.

Scan the internet and you will find all kinds of poems/oaths/dedications to her - take the bits you like from these and create your own.

Many of the cultures she appears in have her as a supremely sexual being - therefore this should be part of any ritual.

To me she embodies stong will and the wilder darker side of the persona.

I think the OP was asking more for ideas what to use physically to build the altar. If I'm wrong completely disregard the post ;)

Anyway, my main altar is actually a TV stand. It works great. And since it's particularly hard to find any visual representations of the entities I work with I've resorted to sketching them based on found images of them (really, I'm in a position here where I can't afford $60 for a friggin' badly-designed statue of Ishtar lol), which I put in some nice picture frames I had lying about. TV and audio stands usually also have some spaces below the top level, which are convenient for storage of candles, incence, daggers and whatever else you might want handy at all times.

I also have a huge Rubbermaid bin that I store other, less-frequently needed items. It smells like Nag Champa, when I open it the whole room is redolent of this fine scent, ahhhhh...

I think it's even advantageous to use something small, simple and portable like a rolling TV cart or one of those big $29 TV stands like you can get at Walmart or where ever, they can go anywhere on short notice and don't take up much space. I mean, many of them are already black when you buy them, how cool is that! ;) You might like a simple table cloth in addition to this, something to drape over your former-TV-stand which becomes an altar as soon as you begin using it as such.

As for offerings, start the traditional way and maybe more ideas will come to you as you learn more about your patron goddess. Get a censor or incense burner of some kind, you can usually get one for ~$10 and most of them in the $5-$10 range are quite sufficient. For Lilith I don't know what particular scents would be suitable but maybe someone else does. Dragon's blood or musk, perhaps?

Anyway, I hope this is more along the lines of what you were asking, mods, feel free to delete if this isn't what the OP wanted ideas for...

Actually matthewK I already have a good thing to use for an altar, I just need a good way to decorate it... as well as suitable sacrifices and things like that... for scents, I would think Jasmine would be a good one... since I think of a suitable shrine to her would be a garden of night-blooming plants and jasmine is one such plant... I would be interested if people could post pictures of their altars to inspire me a bit? :)

Mmmm, jasmine indeed, I never smelled a jasmine incense I didn't like (even the generic brands that usually suck are actually pretty good with that scent)... btw, I know of two "Show your altar" threads, here's one:

http://www.occultforums.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=11916

Can't remember where the other is. There's another one for posting pics of your tools and instruments also... threads like that get some grumbles about how if you show other people your tools they'll need to be re-consecrated and such. I say if you place that limitation on your magick, it's all yours. Otherwise, why hold yourself back? ;)

The following I will describe here may come across as obscene to anyone. You've been warned!

Yes, Lilith did sprout wings on her back so long ago when she left Adam(at his consent) to go fly to Heaven with great power. I managed to duplicate the very same as she did even before I read about her. It basically happened when I experimented with teleportation and leaving my physical body.

It has taken quite a while to study the ways of the spirit, but I've managed to duplicate the same ways Lilith conceived of when she shouted "Shaddai El Chai!" on that fateful day when she was exiled by Adam.

I often leave my body to go have sex with her. Basically you leave and then your whole physical body takes over and starts masturbating all on its own, and I assume this is what happens with any intercourse with spirits.

The first time I did it, my body was filled with so many unclean spirits that I came down with an episode of Psychosis. Multitudes of voices started speaking through me whenever I would speak. It was almost as If I was suddenly an archangel of some sort, and no one could hear them but me of course. I was eventually about to control this effect to where it was less annoying of course.

Well, I kept doing it with her after that... eventually she mentioned something about destroying my 7th chakra so that I would only have six. That way my soul would increase so that she could partake of it. At first she started relentlessly interrogating me about my soul... I don't even think she knew what happened to it. Her only question seemed to be "...is it damned? Is his soul damned or not?". This was among the other angels of course... it's almost like we had to keep telling her I was immortal(christian) because she couldn't believe it or something, but eventually she did. I had a lot of bodily pain because of what I allowed her to do, but I'm over it already and on a singular drug for both autism and any singular bouts of psychosis.

All I remember was how much my angels had to keep telling all of my enemies and accusers about how much my soul wasn't "damned" and also about how much it had been increasing because of the trial I had suffered.

Ask her to visit you in your dreams and tell you what she prefers. This way she'll be able to style the colors, scents and other things after you. It's much more complicated than "black candles for such and such" or "Jasmine for so and so". My advice would be to let her tell you what she wants.

As for the matter of the book of revelation, Here's some english gematria for this matter:

Lilith = 420

Babylon = 426

a Lilith = 426

The Bride = 426

Catholic = 426

Yshua/Jesus = 444

Lucifer = 444

So yes, Lilith is like unto Babylon being personified, but The Bride(who is the entire christian population) is the acutal personifcation. In the book of revelation, The Woman on the Beast represents not Lilith but The Bride as a whole who is the Church, but in the book she is a city that will be destroyed. The city's name is babylon who's number also equals the word "Catholic"(which is what all of the christians are.)

As for humanity, Lilith is like unto The Bride simply because she resembles the one-third of humanity about to be taken away before The Great Tribulation begins.

Lilith was taken away and given all the power while Adam and Eve were sentenced because of what they represented against Lilith(who was taken away and given all the power)

It will be the same way with The Bride who is the church. As soon as the christian population reaches exactly one-third, Jesus, who is the Lucifer of this world, will take one third of the population away just like Lucifer fell with one-third of the angels. They'll have all of the power that comes from taking part in the first resurrection whereas the other two-thirds of the world will not and will suffer tremendously.

I read your first Lilith thread and now this one and I have several comments to make.

First, I think you would benefit from some basic witchcraft 101 books. Many of your questions and inquiries are covered in a series of books written by Silver Ravenwolf. If nothing else it will go through basic ritual, altar set up, energy manipulation, basic candle magic, etc. These are very basic but a good place to begin your education then move on to more advanced literature and history.

Second, regarding Lilith. It has been my experience and firm belief that you are better served in waiting for Lilith to come to you than to call her. Her very mythos and all she stands for should make this pretty obvious. She is a powerfull goddess and one that you should be comfortable in your magik to call or otherwise wait for her.

Lilith is misunderstood primarily due to the various mythos surrounding her. Much ado is made about her negative qualities and many fail to see her balancing qualities. But make no mistake she is a brutal teacher when necessary but fierce in her passion. She made the ultimate sacrifice for her freedom, an extreme one, and her energy is just as extreme.

Lilith is my Goddess, I live with her presence everyday. I didn't choose her, she chose me. I have learned to embrace all her aspects and never forget the thin line we tread. I can't remember where I read this but it has been in my BOS for several years now, for in living with Lilith "I can never be anything less than all that I am."

I have not encountered many dedicated to Lilith in my area. There are 3 Children of Lilith that I am aware of and we meet regularly to discuss, learn and develop our spirituality as it relates with Lilith in our lives. I am actually actively searching for others dedicated to Lilith, especially any Priestesses or High Priestesses specifically dedicated to her.

Any direction or resources are welcome. I can be reached on MSN xx_nemesys_xx@hotmail.com or email me at xx_nemesys_xx@yahoo.com

Hope this helps and I am sorry for the oversimplified contribution. It is late and Lilith is a complex subject. I look forward to further discussions
