I am going through 777 once again. And I asked myself (and now you lol): If I would want to use also the column about vegetable drugs, what would be a good replacement for the once that are hard to get or outright illegal?
Coffee and alcohol are obviously not such a problem, cocaine, opium and ergot on the other side...*cough cough*
Damiana is available here as incense (amazingly I can get damiana and cedar at my local bookstore, but not sandal).
But what about the others? Any suggestions?

Unless someone has a supply issue or has a problem with the legal/illegal aspect of certain poisons I see no reason why anyone would want a substitute, nevertheless I can personally vouch for eating a couple of tablespoons of Jimson weed seeds for a hallucinogen. As far as the legal/illegal aspect of this and that and the effect/non-effect it has on the individual occultists work including how that taught paradigm is viewed, I feel it could be another thread entirely.

Hm... seems that way... after all so far no one else felt any need to answer.
Well, opium in its pure form is totally unavailable here (besides me not being interested in being busted for drug possession lol).
"Drugs" is a relatively wide field...one could just say "substances" also. Not all substances are illegal here. Salvia is new on the list since last year. Damiana still not a problem.
Of course I could just leave the stuff I can't get or don't really want to get out... but well, I thought I would just ask for opinions.
As for the effect: I am quite sure it is not to get one high. There is stuff like coffee and alcohol on the list. It is rather meant as a stimulant with a specific effect for the ceremonial work...being high in the sky and blown out of ones brain would maybe not be good for this. So there should be some substitutes which have a similar effect...
