Beginning a 12 month experiment

Post by Skysight »

G'day folks,

I'm a dude from Canada who's been on both sides of the metaphysical fence; everything from being a complete scientific materialist to basically believing that absolutely anything was possible.

Now... I'm determined to find out what's really possible firsthand.

(I definitely recommend you imagine all this being said in that deep, dramatic, I've-smoked-20-packs-of-cigarettes-per-day-for-20-years movie trailer voice.)

So on Monday I'm beginning a year long experiment where I'll start out with 10 minutes of meditation per day, and add 10 more each week. Over 12 months, that'll add up to just about 9 hours of meditation per day. Full details are at my blog, link in signature.

Look forward to sharing my experiences and learning lots.

Greetings...

Well, that will be an interesting "experiment"...
If you can keep it up, that one year will be quite a transformation in your life...
Hope to hear about it... :)

I will be very impressed if you can even go a week meditating 4 hours a day. As I'm sure many of us know, the hard part isn't sitting down and meditating... it's making it into a habit and keeping up with it on a daily basis that tends to be incredibly difficult. If you can manage 4 or 9 hours of meditation per day, you'll be a much stronger individual than myself.

Oh yeah... Welcome.

Indeed! However with the gradual progression, combined with the fact that I don't really have any other competing obligations, I think it's doable.

As an interesting aside, one of the things I've been learning in the feedback I've been getting so far is that when people express doubt about whether or not the task is possible, it has the effect of actually boosting my motivation to prove that it is.

Thank you for that! ;)
