Let us get some life in here!

Post by Venefica »

Ok boys and girls, I hate to be nagging, but this forum needs more life, and fast. Believe me, when people see a forum with only one or two posts a day, they walk on by, and we loose prospective members and the forum get even more quiet. We have a chance to make this a great forum. To bring back OccultForums, but only if we do two things. One is to actually post, make treads, post to them, create some life on the forum so people dropping by do not find a dead forum with no activity but see allot of recent posting, and the second is to do what we can to bring new members here. We have an advantage, we have the old OccultForums posts, we could make this forum just like the old days, but then we have to work together and raise this forum from the half slumbering state it is in, the the anthill of activity that OccultForums was. Inactive forums get more inactive while active forums get new members and get new life. So come on boys and girls, if you like me have missed old OccultForums, then let us work together to bring it back.

I am not an admin here so it is their choice, but to me it sounds good, what we need here is activity. This forums is nicer in my opinion than the other forums the OccultForums.com members have drifted to, but it lacks activity, a bit of publicity is definitely what we need.

Why delete this tread? I wrote it as an call to action to get this forum going, what you are doing Cove is wonderful, but there is still other things we can do, we can post more, add links to this site on our websites and blogs, I do not see why this tread should be deleted even if you add a note about this forum on your site.

we do need more life on here.
I've gotten into the habit of going longer periods between visits so I have more new content to respond to.

I'd recommend everybody start a new thread/discussion on occult topics, and lets get some casual dialog going in the off topic areas too :)

Kath: Good idea. If everyone could manage one post a day, or even one post each other day then there would soon be more life here.

Ok,a 'call to arms' it is then.Lol.I am much more of a lurker by nature than a poster, but I'll give it a shot.Ohoh.

I am currently fascinated by and following, Astrological/Astronomical events.I did say I would write a topic on Pluto Rx[Rx:retrograde motion, for those who may not know]and I've been lazy about it,sorry.

This could be interesting, but I am aware of the current trend in Scepticism regarding Astrology - I'd like to address that, but I'm not that great a writer,so I'll have to link a lot.[Fr.Choronzon by the bucketload, lol, but seriously!]I'm also no expert, but I've been using and working with Astro dynamic energies most of my life,I have also utilised the personality analysis of my natal chart to suit my needs at certain periods, using my 'natural born' [according to my chart interpretation] skills, working through planetary transits and with current influences and generally to project qualities and interact with others in accordance to theirs, very succcessfully and so I can at least share experience and some knowledge. I'm not sure which type of magickasl paradigm this belongs to,but I am a very Chaotic practitioner and I am a magickal opportunist,I work with potential a lot:tying the threads of possibility into my reality and exploiting 'event horizons' as they show up.I follow the skies and watch the stars.I work with'the Music of the Spheres': harmonic vibrations on an interplanatery scale, this part is where the Science comes in,especially; and I find syncronicity occurs between mind and magick here.I hope it takes off.Is there enough interest for a topic like that?

I should shut up now,I do tend to ramble somewhat.

I do not think you have to be a great writer to express yourself on a forum, and besides you are a better writer than you think.

This site needs some work before I would recommend it to anyone. As it is now it is hard to read I think because of the theme chosen. It actually hurts my eyes after a while. All the saved stuff from occultforums.com is a big turn off as well. I hate it when you can not reply to people because they simply do not exist on the site in question. Also why re post the bad threads? It might be understandable if it were a really great thread but from looking in the ceremonial magic parts there are some really bad threads in there that you wished you never had to read again.

Well that is my opinion anyway.

I am very glad all the old treads that they where able to save, good or bad is here, first of all, who is to say which tread is good or bad for the individual? And secondly a forum's soul lie in it's posts, by preserving those treads, those treads that represent years of ideas, arguments, wisdom, friendships and human contact this forum have a bit of old Occult Forums soul. I probably would not be working so hard to get people to this forum, and would not care so much if it did not have the old treads. Did not have the soul of OccultForums good and bad.

Bumpty bump.I am a bad member,I've not written that topic up yet,but in mitigation,I hope,I've been dealing with my son's recovery from viral encephalitis and my daughter's struggle with cervical cancer, alongside my wee grandson's ongoing issues regarding his cerebral palsy,so I've been a bit distracted recently. However,I am here and I answer posts to the best of my ability, though I could use some help on that.

I hope you guys return soon and get with posting too. This forum is bursting with potential and I'd like to see it take off.We are the keepers of the legacy of the late great OF.com,a site I learned so much from.I feel I owe this place something,in that respect.I have been priveleged to talk with and learn from folk I would otherwise never have met and I'm grateful and honoured to have been so lucky.

Guests, you are out there lurking,I see you, please join in,or else the poor newbs will be stuck with me in all my ineptitude,do it for their sake,if not mine, lol, but seriously.

@ Ankhape,I'm sure you can teach me more than I can you,I've seen your musical works elsewhere and I am delighted by them.I hope to talk with you more on this soon.

What about making a face book page for occult forums?? it would get ALOT of members interested. BUT, it would take some maintenance if anyone is interested in doing that for the Forum.

I agree, and secondly they should have told us that they were going to end the old forum so we could have saved our posts. the forum looks like a ghost town at times, but i think that after a year or so things might improve.

I think that it could bring a lot of new members. Is it against Facebook rules for a group to advertise a site?

No Spinel, there are loads of groups on facebook,a fair few occult/pagan forums and sites have groups there already.

I'd do it,but I am rubbish with the graphics and code whatsits etc.See what admin think when they see this? I know there is a twitter for here,I joined it but I don't know what I 'm meant to do with it,lol.

I am the original internet idiot, surfing my way blindly, through depths I can't possibly fathom.
[I gotta sig this,now,lol]:o:rolleyes::D

Yeah I don't really get the Twitter thing. I felt as though I was tweeting to a brick wall on my page.

I've seen some of the occult discussion groups on Facebook. I reckon if someone makes a group for this website, they should make it so the group is also for occult discussion, which will give people reason to join the group if they're not familiar with this site.

A facebook might be a good idea, I don't really know facebook at all, but I'd be willing to help run it. There's also a twitter, which I'm dreadful for not upating :F Sorry about that. Putting together a team for social networking might be a good idea, I'm dreadful at it :P

You know, the funniest thing about me,is I 'm anti social by nature, diagnosed and all, officially like, yet I'm a long standing member of several social networks.I call it fighting fire with fire,lol...but seriously.

I'm on facebook and it seems simple enough to start a page/group,it's just the 'fancification' I'd have trouble with.I'm definately in,to help in any way I can.We just need t ocoordinate,I think.

Baggsy you the leader Vashta.
