I see it as a curse. To be burdened to suffer the pains of surviving, under the mantel of sin per god's ordinance all their days. And then for their seed, for all the generations to come, to suffer similarly for the "sins" choices of their parents. In a paradise garden wherein the all knowing creator of all that was there, set the stage for it all to transpire. Yes, I see it as a curse.
The Book of Genesis is a tricky one because so much of it's message relies on interpretation. Many people agree with you and for good reason. After all, why would God punish us for the curiosity he gave us, and so harshly at that. Well, in many esoteric teachings, God did not punish us but in fact warned us of the natural consequences of our curiosity. The fact that both good AND evil is fruit of the same tree is a subject to be given much thought. Think of it like this, a chimp cannot establish a charitable organization to help hundreds of dying chimps, but he also lacks the ability to wage a world war. Anything that gives light also casts a shadow.
Without this light humanity lived strictly by faith, work did not exist. It is said that when man lived strictly by faith there was no pain and God controlled every aspect of his life, including his food and reproduction. Depending on your personal belief this was either a luxury or a shackle. Regardless, when man decided to KNOW things for himself it also meant DOING things for himself. Therefore man was forced to work for his food and women had to painfully deliver her children without the help of God.
Many believe the tree of knowledge represents the act of sex for pleasure, and to an extent i believe this to be true. But its much more then that. The tree actually represents a creative power, the same power we have used to build all the man-made wonders of this world. The ability to create and control fire seems to be an essential part of this knowledge. Astrologically speaking the Lucifer of genesis is a personification of the sign of Scorpio, it's symbol used to be serpent before it was ever a scorpion. Its ruling planet is Mars witch rules iron and fire. Mars represents initiative and passion. And it is the danger that comes along with these two things witch God was trying to spare us from.
Hope this helps.

since i read that the world was a liar, i look to other sources for the truth. i also believe that christ is the way to truth. I believe that the western part of the united states is in fact israel. and that the colorado river is in fact the jordan, and the columbia river is the mighty euphrates. and as the scripture say "that great city which is spiritually call sodem and egypt where our lord was crucified matches only one city on earth.Las vegas,nv. the true city of god. and that all the nations of the world will gather together here. hopefully not in armagosa valley which is right above death valley california. Israel i take you to a large land, flowing with milk and honey. i saw a comparison of israel with california the put a dot on the california map. i believe that no nation will be seperated from the truth , and that all have a right to truth. that is what jesus christ is to me. the temple is gone and not one stone is ontop of another. and israel is in babylon right now....i can show through the scriptures all that i wrote and more....i challenge the nations and religions and for that mater all man woman and child to these truths. or as christ said watch and see as these truths are revealed all over the earth..

The Fall represents mankind's and natures fall into materialism. This Fall shields us from the spiritual world and opens an Abyss between Man and the Divine. The Right Hand Path of traditional Qabalah aims to restore the original harmonic relation between man and the Divine.
The Left Hand Path fulfills and deepens the Fall. The Dark Adept continues the Fall from God to reach individual divinity.
The reason behind the Fall is often described as being hubris, man's search for knowledge and forces that originally were not meant for him to acquire. The LHP leads to a second birth, a spiritual rebirth as a god.
The original Tree of Life did not contain the material world, instead the non-Sephira Daath existed., united by paths with Kether (above), Chokmah, Binah, Geburah and Tiphareth (below).
Lucifer-Daath, the original Serpent, represents the divine force of creation that is able to carry out God's idea of creation.
Lucifer-Daath sinks down to man's level and awakens the power of creation and the sexual energy in man. Thus, man can reach the knowledge which was previously only accessible to God.
The adepts of the LHP glorify the Fall and allow the destruction to be fulfilled. Leading away from the Tree of Life and further into the Tree of Knowledge.
