Gods appear in dreams?
I had a dream that I was trying to prepare an altar in a temple for some unknown deity and I messed up a few times and "died" but then when I had proper instructions (which I located and read the second time) I was able to produce something effective and continue into the temple. The goddess was white in color with glowing red eyes and in the dream someone mentioned that she was Babylonian or Sumerian. I woke up and found a statue on a google image search that looked a lot like the goddess in my dreams, a statue of Ishtar. In the dream many worshippers were bald, which was something else I found out about researching myths.
I asked my then girlfriend if she had ever heard of Ishtar and she told me Ishtar was her patron goddess. Who knew?

Yeah, Gods can be very interesting. And they often appear in dreams, although whether they are avatars, symbols, or the actual gods in the dream is a question I don't really know. But still, you ever meet Papa Guedhe, give him a shot of rum from me.

I met my current mentor in this manner. we've gotten to be 'very' close in the last 8 years.
I'd call her a deity, though definitions of what 'deity' means will vary, she fits mine.

After working with Ellis such a great deal, my previous ideas of what "God" and what "Gods" are have been... well... proven untrue. I'm sure many would disagree, but I consider Ellis to be a "godform", who has spoken to me while awake as well as while sleeping.
The specific event I'm remembering is when I spent a good hour trying to comfort a friend over the phone because she wanted to kill herself after her boyfriend at the time raped her some weeks ago. I went to bed thinking exactly how the man should suffer for it, but I had a dream where all I can remember Ellis saying is, "She wasn't raped, you idiot."
I remembered that when I woke up, talked to her about it again later, and realized she wasn't actually raped. Her boyfriend simply made stereotypical promises like, "I'll be with you until you tell me to go!" and "We won't have sex for a long time until you're ready." One night she was horny, and he simply monopolized on it, and for whatever reason following that, dumped her. It may speak of weak character on his part, but I hardly consider that worthy of the punishment I reserve for rapists.
Anyway, point being, in my personal experience "godforms" can definitely appear in dreams.

mmm, if i had consensual sex with someone, and then afterwards in a fit of something like buyer's remorse my partner falsely accused me of raping them (actually this all sounds kinda unbelievable, but anyway, just 'what if..') anyway, I'd seriously consider dumping my partner too if they were laying some sort of guilt trip on me for consensual sex. Not saying that's what happened Vinncent, but it would fit the facts that you have. Unfortunately a certain percentage of women who claim to have been raped, aren't raped. Often the same woman will cry rape numerous times, making a serial behavior out of it. Which is really unfortunate, it hurts the credibility of women who really are raped, and it hurts a number of innocent men as well. I knew a woman who did this but chickened out in court.
but back on topic... sorta... I'm curious how your ideas of what god/gods are, what they were, and why they changed. maybe a new thread?
fully back on topic: the one i'm close to, whom most would call a goddess, interacts with me while I'm watching southpark, so i mean, appearing in a dream is nothing

When I come across gods in my dreams, they're usually some weird god that I've never heard of.
It's okay to have imaginary friends, just don't take advice from them.
Gods appear in dreams?
Deities can appear in dreams, more so for the purpose, that people are more able to accept them in dreamtime, rather than in normally awake state.
Life is an Adventure, there's something new around every corner.

Our world id full of gods and spirits. Spirits (daemones) are connected to gods and are a link between them and the sensual world. When in dreams they take form they are daemones (spirits), for the gods in their pure "form" are beyond form. I'll give the example of Semele, Dionysos' mother. When triked by Hera to ask her lover Zeus to appear the same as he apears to Hera, she was burned by the flame as he turned into "lightning".

The more you invoke, evoke your gods the more they will appear in your dreams. They have allways been there but you didn't recognise them as that. But as darkwolf said they can come in the shape of something else. Its not very usual for me that they come in their mythological shape. They can come in the shape of animals too, trees, grass, the wind, a pool, shadow, and sometimes only as a voice behind the whole dream. If they are close they sometimes talk close to my left or wright shoulder too. But then I never see them, just hearing them. But they can also be your friend, lover, familymember or any in your dream. The more advanced and the more you know your gods, you will know its them whatever shape they have. You will feel and know that. And many times you will see that they are not part of the dream. They have entered the dream(from the deeper subconsious or astral, depending on your beliefsystem and maybe both is right). Usually their aura will glow more than the rest of the dream. Energies that dont look like something else in the dream. Their eyes reveal who they actually are. The more power you have, the more power they will have.

Have you ever tried to ask them who they really are? You know sometimes they have this little game of pretending being someone else. Ask in authority and demand them to reveal who they really are and you will get the true answer.DrMummy wrote:When I come across gods in my dreams, they're usually some weird god that I've never heard of.

Many pepole have had contact with Gods, Spirits or other entities in their dreams, it is not that uncommon. I do no think I have met a God in my dreams directly, though I have had contact with Gods, including Jehovah when awake. I have met several Spirits in my dreams, including my magick and Spiritual self personified. And She is in part me and in part a personal God.

Jehovah?
Not exactly a witchgod. Never heard someone who call them self a witch do that.

Is He not to one face of the God? I mean we honor all sort of ancient Gods and Goddesses and their religions, who not also Christianity and their God?

Honor a god that have been used for a very, very long time to fight against all witches/magicians and occult and even kill them who dared pratice it? That's like being a jew and honor Hitler.
Gods appear in dreams?
Is it Jehovah's fault what His followers have done? Your analogy do not hold water. Hitler did the deeds himself. It is more like a Jew hating the various myths and legends around Atlantis as Hitler used those myths as part of his rationale for exterminating Jews and quite a few other pepole.
I think the Christian pantheon is fabulous for magick. It has three Gods which might be seen as one, angels, saints. Not to mention the concepts of Sophia and a Goddess in the form of Maria. It is a huge pantheon which is rich in lore, tales and traditions. And I for one is not going to sit and say they hurt us and hate Christianity because of what happened hundreds of years ago, or for the opinions of a few bigoted pepole. Christianity is a wonderful religion, it is the followers which at times is a little dubious.

I think that if you want to worship and use the Christian pantheon then that's your business. Your beliefs should not be up for debate or how you practice. I'm a Kemetic Recon and I got bashed because I don't do daily ritual for all my deities. I tried that and the smoke detector went off. I have a brother that works and so I have to be respectful of him. So I do daily ritual to two of my open statues, Sekhmet and Horus, and then at night I do a ritual for one of my closed statues. I've not gone down into the pits of Hades for doing that.

Honestly the idea that spirits had to tell you who they really were if you asked their name seemed a bit far fetched. I mean unless it had reason to fear lying to you, or if it had come to respect you.Gandridur wrote:Have you ever tried to ask them who they really are? Ven hit the nail on the head, it's not always the religions fault that humans claiming it do terrible things in its name.Venefica wrote:Is it Jehovah's fault what His followers have done? I wish to add here for those who desire to know to be very careful of any beings with red eyes. The red eyes indicate they feed on energy as a food source. Should you encounter them in the astral - DO NOT TOUCH THEM under any circumstances - as you will create a psychic link between your soul and they - and that tie will pull you into their direction where they want you to go weakening your energy immensly. Ishtar has been known to move about in a space ship or UFO as we know them and has appeared to many UFO abductees.awriterscorned wrote:I had a dream that I was trying to prepare an altar in a temple for some unknown deity and I messed up a few times and "died" but then when I had proper instructions (which I located and read the second time) I was able to produce something effective and continue into the temple. She is also known as Inanna, Venus, Aphrodite, Astarte and the 'Goddess of War'. She's also known as the 'Whore of Heaven' as just about every god in heaven has laid with her at some time in the past. She is also very beautiful to look at.
Ishtar is the predeluvian deity known as the 'Goddess of 15' or 'Queen of Heaven'. She is the biological mother of Jesus before his embryo was placed in Mary's womb, such being the inscestuous copulation of her older brother Jehovah, known as the moon god Nanna.
Like Jehovah, She is one of the Elder god clan, or Elohim. Because these gods are genetically inbred they have become mentally insane and no longer whole.
The hard reality is - there are very few gods in creation. Many of them are using more than one name and appear to each civilization as someone different. The amount of real gods in creation you can count on one hand - that is how few there are. History gives the illusion there are thousands of gods; but the reality is there are only thousands of different names.
Some readers have been asking - what is the difference between a god and normal spirit ?
Not much other than awareness. Gods generally claim to be immortal which is lie to instill fear in their enemies. All gods are mortal and can die. At best they have only Everlasting Mortal Life and not life in themselves ( immortality ) - a big difference between the two concepts.
Any being who has red eyes lacks wholeness and like a parasite has to have a host food supply to live off. In so doing they are mortal and can die. If they need any sort of food source they have a weakness in their genetics. In the case of Light beings such as Ishtar and Jehovah they need prayers to feed upon to sustain themselves. Hence worshipers are of great value.
The word god comes form the anglo saxon word GUD meaning GOOD. So technically a true GOD is a GOOD being.
But if they have red eyes and display a beautiful appearance to lure you in, often they are technically dangerous. All THEOCRATIC beings are parasitic and feed off other souls.
It's better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven !

Gods appear in dreams?
I think the question depends on the type of dreams.
If it is an ordinary flash of memory concerning the brief astral roaming you enjoy in your sleep, then I would really be skeptical about what would appear to be a god or goddess. Even the most untrained apprentice can appear with lightening and glory. You would think it is the incarnate of the Ancient One himself.
If, on the other hand it is a prophetic dream, flashes formed randomly from the substance of your mental body then it is another story.
Randomness is the only thing that is under the will of the most passive outside this manifestation, what controls randomness is what controls
the whole universe since it is not affected by any other being's will. Pure randomness is the most essential requirement in any divination.
While divining with planets we may foresee the actions of certain forces and how they would affect us. But real divination like tarot actually allows us to ask questions. Yet asking those questions is without asking which is a must. This is from my experience at any rate.
I am getting off topic here, so, Gods may appear in prophetic dreams but are most likely a message not the real spirits we call gods.
If it is, and I repeat, a normal astral wandering then I would be very skeptical about it.

Yeah and watch out for the space ship or UFO with Elvis Presly in it. He will eat on you and make you fat. And watch out for the space ship or UFO with Liberace and Freddy Mercury in it. They will make men gay and a very dramatic gays too. Muhahahhaa!!!
