What would you like to see added to the board?

Do you have a site for people to show and tell? A place where visitors could leave articles,sigils and charms, experimental magics etc?
It would be nice to see an experts corner too, where anyone could go directly to a specialist (as an adjunct to the forums of course,not as an alternative or authority figure within the forum, but purely as an alternative to the "polling" style of exchange currently employed).
I envisage this as being populated by people with either a specialization or a particularly in-depth knowledge of one or more subjects and who are willing to share this knowledge in an impartial and academic form.
Membership could be decided by the Moderators, by invitation or perhaps by direct election by forum members or upon submission of an entry level essay for instance.

Ok, just for a laugh, how do you guys fancy sharing what little we do know about magical forensics? What I am looking for are the observations you have made regarding back tracking sigils.Maybe in an attempt to recover the original intention or information regarding the Servitors employed for instance?
Maybe you have noticed something odd which you have never been able to account for in the background of rites,ceremonies,psychic self defence or similar situations or have successfully "sussed" something from little or no information (by which I dont mean via intuition).
I would be overjoyed to help collate and explore this information with any interested parties.

RE EXPERTS CORNER
Just had a thought. The chaos forum might just be the right place for that, but I think some of it quite specific and might not always sit easily within the Chaos remit.I'm not doing down Chaos mages but I think that some of the material might not be of interest to someone with Chaos specific studies.Perhaps the poster might be interested in a specifically Pectiwicca answer,or a therianthropological article or sigil.
I'm getting my lines of thought crossed here,I'll come back to this later.In the mean time I think I'll look into the possibility of opening an experts group independently with membership via admission essay or invitation.Do you think its viable? Should I start a forum of my own?

What about the wiki? You're welcome to upload sigils etc to it, maybe write an article on them or something. It logs you in automatically when you're logged into the forum, so feel free to put new stuff on there ^_^ If you don't know the markup language, you could write the article and ask someone else to put in headings, table of contents etc

And yeah, the forensics thing wouldn't be out of place in the chaos board, or you could start a group for it if there's enough uptake

Thanks for that,Vashta, I'm still very much learning about this computer related stuff, but nobody's successfully convinced me yet that they're not just demon infested boxes!Which reminds me, I once came up with a magic square (based on Abramelin) to make a computer work. It started as a joke, but worked!I'll dig it out and post it for a laugh.

I agree with that. Posts is the number one thing which will draw new members to this site. Just think about it this way if you find a site online but it is hardly anyone posting, would you bother registering? If those of you who are lurking is waiting for the site to become more active, it never will. Post please, it do not have to be five A4 sides articles, but even one paragraph posts now and again would help, if one look at the number of pepole who are members, if everyone posted even a small post once a week, or even once a month then this would be a rather active forum, and that would attract other members and make it more active and so on and so on. We the members on this forum decides if it is going to fall or fly, and the only way to make it fly is to post. Now there are more than two active posters, we are a handful who post fairly regularly, however more of those who lurk need to do that. Now writing a new lines every week or even every month do not take allot of time, but will be very important for breathing life into the forum.

Um,yeah,right mate,if you say so.I've been ill recently but check my post count.I was on here and posting when no one else was,all too frequently.

Alienating the others who DO post here regularly will help a lot....not.

End mini rant.

I intend to resume my regular posting,now that I can focus my eyes again and the snot has gotten to manageable handkerchief levels.

I suggested a library months ago when i asked the mod if we could upload PDF's to the wiki so that we could have a wiki page serve as a library that will be accessible to the public through our wiki. I suggest at the wiki so that we can all add books to it, categorize it and edit it when necessary instead of creating a long and rambling thread of book posts with no obvious coherent structure...

I have one concern with uploading PDFs though and that is copyright infringement. Now I am not a big any piracy person, however I do think that if a person can afford the books it is better to buy them. However my main concern is that if this site breaks copyright laws it can be taken off the net and the forum owners can get into trouble and I think that would be a shame. There is however allot of occult books which either have no copyright or they are so old the copyright do not apply and I think it would be nice to have a library of those. Anything to draw more members here.

Oh and Philoneus you do realize I was joking with you earlier?

There was no way that it could have been misunderstood, I howled with laughter! Anyway, I'm glad you saw the humour in my comment.I would love to see your collection.I used to have a very large collection of books , but had to get shot of most of them (they became redundant). At one point I had a book shop so then I had an enormous library I suppose!These days I have only three or four hundred books, most of which cover language,history,mythology and magic. Out of that lot only about seventy are occult books but I've been involved in this subject nearly every day and night of my life since childhood so I can afford to have a small but comprehensive collection these days.I would be willing to put a list of my titles up for people to browse if you want, I still like the idea of uploadind pdf's though.

I absolutely agree with you. i do not host copyrighted book at my site - unless they are books that have been made public by the author, and there are a few, like 'Bucklands witchcraft' and a few other titles. I think that there are plenty of classical books and authors that many of us can learn from without infringing on rights. i write for myself so i understand the importance of copyright and infringement.

all we have to do is get the admin to allow PDF uploads to the wiki, then we create a library page, then add the titles as we go along. the page should have a notice that if copyrighted or questionable mtl. will be removed and also instructions on how to upload the document. hell, i might add some of my writings in there for FREE for everyone to enjoy.

the old occultforums had the Bob Hendricks memorial library that you may be able to see through the internet archive. it was a page that i referenced often whenever people asked me where to find books. i have most of those books at my site right now, ready to DL whenever the site admin allows PDFs into the wiki.
