Okay, from what I've read, this book's functionality is Evocation, much in the same sense as the Goetia (Lesser Key of Solomon). I highly recommend reading up on evocation, so you know exactly what this book is for. If you like evocation, also look up the Goetia. Please keep in mind that these "elder gods" are only as real as you make them, and are as powerful or feeble as you make them. They are constructs of your mind; but more than that, they are different portions of your mind. Different "regions" if you will.
If you are UNEXPERIENCED with magick, this book is NOT for you. Go pick up some books on theory and start your yoga/resh/meditation/study/lesser practice, first.
ALL OF THAT SAID! I found what you're wanting first, for that talisman:
For a talisman for safety, subconsciously, anything will do... But, if you feel like buying anything ancient and esoteric, i suggest this little beauty:
It's straight out out of the goetia! Draw it on a piece of paper, if you don't want to spend money. PS, the names are of angels. They are:
ABDIA
HALLIZA - SOLUZON - BALLATON
HALLILY BELLONY
The symbols that correspond should be fairly visible in that picture, i would think. Also bear in mind that each point of a pentagram corresponds with the name of god "YHVH" ^ W, and also, the alchemical elements + spirit/wisdom/intillect. DO NOT DRAW IT UPSIDE DOWN! That places matter above mind, as it were. You naughty satanist you!
If you draw it, be sure to make it in a perfect circle using a Compass, and a perfect pentagram is preferable as well. If you want to make your own symbols, check out my post on sacred geometry, it hasn't been removed yet. Also, you could probably adapt some of the symbols in the book. Just a suggestion...
You seem to be pretty familiar with the ritual, and kabbalah. I suggest adding some candles for atmosphere, maybe get an alter too. As for the gates...
You will need chalk. Or some cloth/sheets (to draw the "gates" on). If you have actual doors, put them above them. If you have no such doors, put them on the floor and walk over them for the ritual.
You have to fast, first, though. The purpose of this is to "purify" your body. The preparation will be great for you subconscious. Observe the moon for a duration of time. The day you no longer observe it, is the day you begin fasting. Or rather, the day after that. This lasts a week, 3 days after that puts you at 10 days. I guess you can eat whatever for the next 3 days, but it would probably be best to keep fasting.
The last three days you must INVOKE (NOT EVOKE!) the names of three elder-gods. Read up on them, so you know how they should manifest to you. Also, look up INVOKING. To sum it up, evocation is when you FORCIBLY call forth a being/section of your mind, invocation is when you ask it to come forth.
Second, on the Night of the Walking, which must be the thirteenth night of the moon,
having begun on the previous thirteenth night, thou must approach the Gate with awe and
respect. Thy Temple is exorcised. Thou must light the Fire and conjure it, but the
invocation of the God of Fire, and pour incense thereon. Thou must make offering to the
Deities on the altar.
Your offering can be anything. Incense should be something neat; the goetia is very specific on the kind you should use, but this has no such specificity. Ask around for what you should use, but it's not super important. The incense needs to be flamable. The offerings go to the three elder gods. Also, i don't know what "god of fire" he references, but you should make a invocation to him.
Third, thou must light the four lamps from the flaming brazier, reciting the invocation
proper to each of these Watchtowers in its proper place, summoning the respective Star.
Fourth, thou must recite the invocation of the Watcher, thrusting the Sword into the
Earth at Its station, not touching it until it is the appointed time for Its departure.
Fifth, thou must take the Seal of the Star in thy right hand, and whisper its Name softly
upon it.
Sixth, thou must recite the Incantation of the Walking, loudly, and in a clear voice, as
thou walkest about the Gate in a circular fashion, beginning at the North and walking to
the East, then to the South, and to the West, the Number of turns being equal to the
special Number of the Star.
Seventh, thou must needs arrive back at the centre of the Gate, before thine altar, at
which time thou must fall to the ground, looking neither to the right no to the left at what
may be moving there, for these Operations attract many kinds of wandering demon and
ghost to the Gates, but in the air above the altar whereupon thou wilt presently see the
Gate opening for thee and the Spirit-Messenger of the Sphere greeting thee in a clear
voice, and giving thee a Name, which thou must remember, for that is the Name of thy
Passing the Gate, which thou must use each time thou passeth thereby. The same Spirit-
messenger will meet thee and, if thou know not thy Name, he will forbid thee entrance
and thou wilt fall to the Earth immediately.
Three should be self evident. Light four lamps. Probably on your altar.
Four requires a dagger/sword/cuttlery. Take it up and thrust it into some earth, or something that symbolizes it. This symbolizes removing worldly desire, among some other things. Don't forget that!
5 is self evident.
6 I believe the incantation is different for each gate. Look a little further in the book and you'll find them. They're called: THE INCANTATIONS OF THE GATES
7 This step is pretty meaty. It tells you that A GATE/The gate? must be present BEFORE your altar. It tells you where to look, and what to see. Now, here's the thing. I think all seven steps must be done for EACH gate.
Other details are available in "the book of entrance & the walking" section, before the nice pictures of the gates.
Hope that helps! [yay] Check out the Goetia, next.
