Chaos Magick in Movies
Chaos Magick in Movies
Hi All
I'm a sucker for any kind of "supernatural" movie (Hammer's Devil Rides Out was brill for its time!)(and what about Night of the Demon!) but in my (long) time don't recall ever having seen Chaos Magic featured, even fleetingly.
Has it ever hit the screen?
Okay, I'll get my coat...

Re: Chaos Magick in Movies
Ooh another Hammer horror fan?
Yey! [yay]
I enjoyed The Devil Rides out immensely,I especially like the Baphomet scene, lol.Oh and the calling of the Death Angel, that part rocks too!
I dunno if there are films with Chaos magic in them that are mainstream or widely distributed, though.I am tired and my brain won't work well ,so I'll ponder it when more awake.
I do wonder though...hmm...
I do know of more than one Chaote who makes films, not sure if there's Chaos magick in them tho'...will check.

Maybe Necromentia?
Re: Chaos Magick in Movies
Hi Stukov
Necromentia? Just googled it and watched the trailer...a right bundle of laughs, eh!
But did it feature CM techniques? That's the test in my view.

Fantasia. If you can't see it, look harder.
Re: Chaos Magick in Movies
It is an interesting movie, not the best or anything. I'm not a fan of horror for the sake of horror, but it had some interesting concepts to it. It has been a few years since I watched it, I am not 100% sure what quantifies chaos magick but there is part of it that I thought may fit. Can't say what it is without giving away the plot. It is also semi hard to follow till you get to the end.
I only mentioned it because it was the only thing that came to mind. Not that I am an expert on everything but it seems most movies are pretty fluffy when it comes to authentic occult stuff. The only movie I can I think of that the director and writers did some research was the 9th gate.

Re: Chaos Magick in Movies
I loved the 9th Gate.I like horror, generally, but it needs some wit about it for me,I don't like slash and dice, just for the sake of it,though hubby loves those films and the rest of my family do too.I'm a jumper, lol, even when I know it's coming ,I still screech. [blush]
I saw Fantasia as a wee kid and it bored me,for the most part. But I didn't like films back then,I couldn't sit still for long.I remember being spooked by the 'drunk' scene, where the carnival of animals is all' 'lalalalala' and flowery and pretty, then it swings into heavier music and gets darker and much more menacing...I liked that bit, lol.

Hi All
Tracked down and watched The Nineth Gate today - then spent ages trawling the net for info on the ending...
I'm not sure how I feel about it really. Paradise if you are into symbolism big style!

Re: Chaos Magick in Movies
I do not have a CM movie in head and don't thing i've ever watch one either.
The Ninth gate is nice. The best about it is when (SPOILER ALERT) you watch it a second time having in mind that the girl is Lucifer^^ I'm glad they did the association with the morning star and Venus. It is rather not conventionnal for a movie. I also like how she is chaotic and having fun to help the guy to take down her own stupid cultists... It depict well how much such orders sometimes take themselves way too seriously while they are realy out of track... demonstrating it while illustrating Lucifer as really cool and not agreeing is also a nice touch.
Probably the best occult movie I've seen as well.
I did like Matrix the first, It made me realise a lot of things at this time. The spoon doesnt exist... and all the metaphors about being used as batteries and kept in hypnosis in a virtual word... I've always wondered: If Neo was an hardcore psychonaut and would have tried to take both the blue and red pills, what would have happened? [crazy]
