Greetings to all

Post by Shangfu »

New member here! Or, well, not actually new as i was part of this community back in 2007-2008 when i began practicing occult. Unfortunately LOTS of stuff happened and i stopped following this board and things have apparently changed here quite considerably!

Little info about me: I am 26 years old and i live in Finland. My parents were/are more or less communists, so i was raised an atheist and i was really into science when young. When other kids told fairytales about god creating earth in seven days that they learned from sunday school, i talked back about Big Bang, Matter/Antimatter and Astrophysics (at least to the level a 7 years old can understand them :D). Well, i grew up and began rebelling in my teen years. As extremely rational and atheistic science was what i was raised in, i found religion, or more appropriately supernatural as a way to test my wings. Around that time i also began reading Lovecraft, study philosophy and practice martial arts.
My first esoteric experience was propably around 18 years of age when i.... Well, i stil dont know what happened, but while practicing Xingyi kungfu i felt a powerful but still pleasant jolt in my spine and my whole being flashed with brilliant white light. I fell down on the ground all the while laughing hysterically and feeling absolutely extatic. That experience has never happened again, but that was the final turning point when i realized that there actually is something bigger behind our existence and the esoteric path would lead me to that something. By that time i had already read Agrippa and bits and pieces of Crowley and the transition to occultism came easily.
Around 2007 i finally got heavily into magick and went from armchairism to actual ritual work, starting with LBRP, then BRH and MP and finally even a succesful evocation. I have also dabbled with shamanism and lucid dreaming, but all this without any single purpose, just experimenting with everything and again testing my limits.

This all is about to change though, more about that possibly later if things go as planned, or at least (and more propably) close enough! :)

Oh, and sorry if my writing is hard to understand. English is not my native language and i learned to read and write it by studying HP Lovecraft, who clearly isnt the best choice for a mentor when it comes to clean and well structured writing! [greensmile]

Interesting background. I live in the San Francisco Chinatown, where I have met a few martial artists.Martial Arts for the most part tends to be deeply rooted in Zen. Agrippa , very profound studies. I have tried to study his de Occulta Philosophia its quite a work. At this point in time it goes way beyond my abilities [gz] . wonderful to have you on our forum [happy] .

Hey, welcome!

Your English is awesome. And, to be honest, you could do a lot worse than H.P. Lovecraft for a teacher. He did his writing way back, when English was still a beautiful language and hadn't been utterly destroyed by American television. [thumbup]

Yeah something happened and the original forum kersploded. It was extremely sad as I had just joined as well and lots of great people moved on elsewhere.

Luckily some great people here salvaged what remained and helped to bring the world back knowledge that many assumed was inevitably lost. :)

Welcome. You're English is far better than some I've seen. To be honest, I thought I was reading someone from England, Canada or the US. And American television did destroy our language.
