TDS: Free Class on Theurgy

Greetings everyone,

The Theurgic school I am a part of just opened its applications for its entry level 'Probationer" class that starts in the next couple months. The ~10 week class is completely free, and focuses on understanding the ancient Graeco-Egyptian tradition of Theurgy, with an emphasis on practice over theory. We have been offering these classes multiple times each year for the past few years, except the past year, since every 4th year we stop taking new students in order to focus on the students we already have. I should emphasize that this has little to do with the Golden Dawn or 20th century magical movements; it is entirely based on Theurgy as taught by such mystics like Iamblichus, Porphyry, Orpheus, Plato, etc., and not the more modern interpretation of Hermetics by people like Crowley, Mathers, and Bardon. You will not be learning the LBRP, or some variation of it, for example.

I have been a member for five years now and highly recommend the school. I could go on and on about the transformation the practices have brought, but I'll just provide the website so you can see for yourself (see the articles section). The applications were opened 13 hours ago, and we have already received 75 applications now, so if you are interested you may want to apply ASAP. Each class will be about 20-30 people, and we are limited on the number of simultaneous classes we can host.

That is very cool, though not really a path I would choose for myself. I will say though, that I got great inspiration from part of the intro article, in comparing self-initiation to joining a group/organization:

One could, for example, theoretically learn all the proper procedures for heart surgery from a book at his own discretion. Most patients, however, would like to know that the surgeon about to operate on them has some high education at a prestigious university. Why? Because it is affirmative of a standard of success, and a standard of truth.
