Gemstones and gods.

Post by ShenFyre »

I'm looking for personal opinions, views etc. Oh and gemstones seemed an easy catch-all for all stones, precious, semi-precious, the lot.

So. In your personal opinion and experiences, which stones would you associate with:

Loki.
Odin.
Set
Bast
Epona.
Annubis.

What can I say - I'm just a curious kitty.

Loki, is alternately referred to as Loptr, which is generally considered derived from Old Norse lopt meaning "air", and therefore points to an association with the air...so use gem stones like sapphire, rock crystal, citrine, smoky quartz, tourmaline, topaz, gold beryl, chrysolite, rhodonite, blue chalcedony, lapis lazuli, amethyst, carnelian.

Odin,Odin is associated with war,battle,victory and death,but also wisdom,magic,poetry,prophecy,and the hunt....so i guess here i would choose hawk's eye or black tourmaline,jasper,emerald,opal,moonstone.

Set,as a god of the desert, storms, and foreigners could need gems like tiger's eye, hematite, onyx, malachite, obsidian.

Bast, symbolized the moon in its function of making a woman fruitful, with swelling womb. She was also the Egyptian Goddess of pleasure, music, dancing and joy...hmm...i guess here i would choose gems in yellow or pink or green color. So we are talking about citrine, rodonite, moonstone, peridote, selenite, pearl.Selenite was also reffered in ancient Orphic scriptures as holy and sacred. They said that you could cut it in small pieces and add one in a glass of water and after a while drink it.(actually i do that very often) Relates you to the magic of the moon. [wink]

Epona,a protector of horses,donkeys,and mules...also a goddess of fertility.That's easy....rose quartz crystals,moonstones,amethyst,carnelian,jade,unakite !!!

Annubis,...here i would just choose bloodstone.

o.O are you sure...? I mean, friends call me an insatiable sponge and a black hole for knowledge... lol.

I have an odd thing with gemstones (it's my thread I'm allowed to de-rail it!) - there's a mutual attraction, I bring them home, make them all comfy and happy then that's it. Bar my necklace - which broke this morning while I was riding. Hence the above questions.

Of course i'm sure. [happyface] hmmm..i strongly believe that when an amulet of gem stones brake, you should leave it to mother earth. You can do nothing more.It means something. It's a message. So maybe you should consider buying a new one and do all the appropriate procedure. [wink]

Since asking for personal opinion..amethyst crystals. Because it feels like I'll go insane from wearing one for more than a few days, which feels very chaotic.

Yep that's what I took it to mean. I didn't even go looking for it.

I've now bought a beautiful snowflake obsidian amulet which called to me. I'm enjoying the changes it's bringing. =)

oh... snowflake obsidian !!!! Be careful my friend with this stone cause it's very powerfull !! A few years ago,a woman bought an obsidian like this and after she did all the procedure of cleansing and programming she asked from the stone to help her lose many many pounds....the thing is that...after 3 weeks she got seriously sick and after a surgery that she had,she lost all the pounds that she asked for...you see the obsidian worked but he decided the way that he would give her,her need....cause the woman didh't use it correctly. For instance she could say'' I'm thin and i'm perfectly healthy''. [wink]
I know it will help you in everything you need as long as you respect it's power !! [wink] Good luck my dear.It was a good sign that you heard it calling for you.I guess in another thread we could all take photos of our gems and share them with all of the members !! That would be nice.

Thanks :)

I think part of the reason it calls and appeals is because Loki is my primary, my main god. I'm used to being careful and respectful. So far, I'm really pleased with the results. I have asked nothing of the stone, just that it does as it feels I need. I feel.. me again. It's been a long time since I could say that.
