New here, hi

Post by captain_trousers »

So, I'm new to the forum, I've been reading up on magic for a while now and got half decent with Tarot...
Fill me in, what should I know starting out?

You should know that the people here are more than willing to help you out, give you their opinions, and generally open your mind to other ways of thinking and doing things.

Everyone must start with the willingness to learn, accept insights (good or bad), admit failure and mistakes, and share their joys of success. Patience is the most important aspect of the occult. Rushib in half-*ssed is a sure way to get you and those around you hurt. I'm probably the poster boy of patience on this site. xD

In the same realm: dedication, practice, and determination. I feel that half of everything we do, occult or otherwise, is the determination to practice, learn from our mistakes and failures, learn new methods of doing things, and to ultimately succeed at our endevours.

Also, don't try to learn everything at once. I recommend meditation for at least centering and calming your mind and energy, though if you are good at reading your deck, I would also recommend inner reflection and, once you get to the point of inner calm, journeys elsewhere. Get better with your cards. Learn them inside out. Learn their quirks, and how they like being read, and ultimately be able to treat them as a very trusted friend.

When you do have questions about events, please feel welcome to make a thread about it.

All that being said, welcome to our forum!
