Smudging???
Will it get rid of anything and everything negative if you word it as such? Thank you in advance.
We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of disociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age. ~ H.P. Lovecraft
Re: Smudging???
well that depends on how you work it. if you just flap joss sticks around whilst thinking about last nights TV then no, in my opinion, it will not do anything.
like most things you do in magic its about how you do it not what you do.
Strongly visualise your intent as you work without desire. be sensitive and open to you sub/magical mind... did it work?
be honest and flexible.

Re: Smudging???
Anything and everything negative, No. Negative energies maybe. but if it's people or spirits, I wouldn't count on smudging as the only solution.
It does get rid of my husband temporarily though
He hates the smell of any kind of incense.

Re: Smudging???
That's what I was afraid of, thank you! How would you get rid of a very negative entity? A strong one.

Re: Smudging???
Get help from someone who knows a lot about such things, and who has worked on similar things before. Not really something to step into unprepared. Maybe xaarea might be able to lend a hand, or at least give some advice.
Re: Smudging???
Sound advice, Visenda.
If you have an entity then you might have to consider going as far as exorcism depending upon the severity of the activity.
Smudging with Sweetgrass or Sage is typically used more for preparing sacred space and individuals for ritual work, or as a component of a blessing.
It is within these contexts that the herb is used to clear residual negative energies.
In your particular situation, if It is as powerful as you imply, you are suggesting the use of a toy hammer when you should be using a sledgehammer. [eek]
My advice to you as a first step would be to have yourself examined by a legitimate Medium. This will determine if you have anything attached to you astrally,
and possibly/likely give you a better sense of what to do/how to treat it.

Yea, the one that cant do anything at all right and that regularly gets recommended exorcism herself should help. Ohright, I 'lead ppl into damnation' too. Re: Smudging???
It's the "Sledgehammer" I'm looking for lol. It's been attached to me for a long time. It makes me sick, and my daughter. I can feel it, it's in my head. It messes with my boyfriend, it changes his personality. It just needs to go.

Re: Smudging???
So if I was going to do an exorcism, how would I go about that? Or should I make a new thread for that question?

Re: Smudging???
Exorcism is something a catholic priest does, and it takes them years to et qualified. What xaarea said was something people have recommended to her, because she's not all "love-dovey-light-and-fluffy.

Re: Smudging???
The Seeker said it as well, I thought perhaps there was a non-Christiany way to do something similar. I don't do priests. I'm not exactly "light and fluffy" either. However I didn't do anything to call this thing to me, I wasn't into the occult at the time. Though had the internet existed back then I would have been.

Re: Smudging???
The ones who were, were the ones who recommended xaarea to be exorcised. Not you. Sometimes things come without calling, other times because we subconsciously call them. No occult experience needed.
Re: Smudging???
I don't know where you get that from.Visenda wrote:Exorcism is something a catholic priest does, and it takes them years to et qualified.
I'm no Catholic Priest and I have definitely participated in a pagan exorcism, but I suppose you're just going to have to take my word for that not knowing me and all. [rolleyes]
Maybe read this, though...

In the meantime, Serenitydawn, I would suggest contacting a reputable Medium and then meeting with them in person so that you can get this thing positively identified.
You can't deal with it if you don't know what it is.
I hope that helps.

Re: Smudging???
I'm a bit late in joining in here, sorry for that.
I feel there is a lot you can do to help yourself,in this matter, but I want to reread the topic you made about this originally first, before posting about smudging [and perhaps other such cleansing rituals/banishings etc].
Back soon.
Ok.
I may ask more questions of you too, hope that's ok.

Ok.
I'd like to ask you a question now: Was there any specific or [ even vague/hazy] impetus or event or person that may have affected you during this period?...when I was 17 I had gone away to college and stayed in a dorm. While I was there something attached itself to me and it has followed me for 20 years.
I may ask more questions of you too, hope that's ok.

Re: Smudging???
I'd be glad to answer anything if it will help figure this out. As I had said I was 17 and it was the first time I was away from my parents in a dorm. It was a very old college. I was a very depressed teenager. I never really fit anywhere, and though I thought about the occult and things but I had never really read any books about it or anything. As far as people, the only people at the time that would have had that kind of knowledge were friends not enemies...and I'm not sure that any of them really had the knowledge other than reading The Satanic Bible or something. Someone else just asked me if someone was sending it. I don't think anyone could have, I mean I didn't particularly have enemies at the time.

Re: Smudging???
Most others use other words than exorcism for what they do. That's where I got that from.

I apologize if my tone was overly harsh, I didn't notice that you're from a non-English speaking country.Visenda wrote:Most others use other words than exorcism for what they do. That's where I got that from.
To exorcise is simply to remove an evil spirit or other unpleasant thing from a place or a person.
There is no one particular religion that claims ownership of the term.
No offense intended.

Re: Smudging???
That's excellent to hear Serenitydawn. [grin]
I was thinking more along the lines of a self generated demon, than curse, hexing or other external malevolance,as 20 years is too long for most folk to keep investing energy in harming another. [it's not impossible, but it is rare for that kind of thing to be manifested strongly over such a long time.]
It was just one line of thought and as you are working things through with xaarea,I'm happy to step back and sit on the side, metaphorically speaking.
