Spontaneous sex change in humans and magical application
I've recently found out that natural sex changes are possible. they are caused by genetic defects such as 5-alpha-reductase deficiency (5alpha-RD-2) or 17-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase deficiency. also, in theory, if you remove the Foxl2 gene ovaries may become testes, they did in adult female lab rats. so who is to say it won't work in reverse by removing the Sox9 gene in males? So, since it is in the realm of possibility to have a natural sex change, albeit very rare, how do you think this could apply to magic?

So far as I am aware, I do not see any overlapping between the two subjects.
Perhaps, in a far fetched manner, one might wonder if this bears some relevance to physical shape shifting. However, this is not a physical phenomenon and even the types of limited chanegs you outlined (theoretically speaking) are related to specific functions and not the whole organism.
What do you think?

Re: Spontaneous sex change in humans and magical application
since magic is thought of to be limited by the veil of reality, Sex changes in humans through magic are possible, given that they do happen naturally. Perhaps, if one targeted these deficiencies when programming a spell, they may be able to slowly and truly change gender? on a side note, hopefully science uses these to an advantage for transgendered people.

What is the basis for your interest in this matter?
