Slower aging?
I have been working with practitioners from several different schools over the course of my twelve years in the craft and have noted that those who work regularly with the higher magics tend to age more slowly than their mundane counterparts or at least they tend to appear younger than their peers. Has anyone else noted a similar phenomenon or is this limited to my own group? I have also to an extent noted this in myself as at 26 I can still easily pass for 17 or 18. (Very annoying to still get asked for my ID whenever I buy wine or tobacco or get girls telling me they don't date younger guys when I ask them out). When I was somewhat younger and more foolish I attempted to achieve immortality through a process called the threefold-blessing which was basically founded on the idea that one who is blessed by magical (pure arcane formulae), spiritual (gods and goddesses) and elemental powers would pass beyond the bonds of mortality. Obviously I was unsuccessful, at least as far as I know, but this could possibly a residual or diluted effect of the intended purpose of said ritual.

I've actually noticed the opposite with myself. I appear much older than I am physically but I don't think I would put the credit for this on my practice. If I had to find a metaphysical reason to explain the older look I have I would possibly connect it to the dry, fiery energies I work with on a weekly basis. I tend to think that theurgy does affect one immediately and then profoundly over the course of many years, but not so much physically. Then again, I'm a heavy smoker so that may be giving me the older look

I find that fascinating. You say that you work with fiery energies, I am for some reason unable to use fire based spells to any great extent, earth, water and air are my forte. Its strange really, I can call down lightning if I so desire but I can't for the life of me light a single candle by magic. I also smoke heavily, but only hookah.

i work with fiery energies almost on a daily basis (i am basically the personification of a fire-ball), and i hear i don't look 27.
then again people do often tell women that they look younger than they really are just to be flattering.

Has far as i'm concerned aging has nothing to do with magic. It can be affected by a zillion things such has abuse of various substances like alcohol, drugs, tobacco, daily stress, anxiety, or simply nature doing her thing.
Take in consideration aswell that you might look 18 because of your natural looks aswell, some people look like kids.
You would be surprised by what having a good life and enough money (sometimes superfluous i know) to provide you enough so you don't have to worry with superficial mundane things would do to you, in a good way.
There are some practices that can be seen has having a spiritual part like practicing meditation or yoga, that can help you fight off some of these evilish things like the nervous system issues.. but that can hardly be called magic?
Not excluding the magical solution since there are obviously things unknown to me but .. i remain kinda sckeptic.
Ps: Loving the thunder cracking from the heavens by command brag.

It wouldn't surprise me if extensive spiritual practice had a positive effect on aging and health, in fact I'm sure it does, but the real question is whether this is caused directly by the spiritual/magical practice, or as a side effect of the lifestyle adopted by most adepts, who tend to avoid excessive use of drugs, including alcohol/tobacco/caffeine, to stay physically fit and healthy, eat well, avoid high stress lifestyles, etc. Meditation by itself is well known to have positive health effects, but again it's hard to say whether that's due to the somatic or spiritual component of the exercises.

I am in my early to mid 30's and can pass as a teenager if I dress like one, normally I am thought to be 22-25 at most.
It could be genetics, it could be the craft. Interestingly enough, I use ice, cold and such in my "workings".

There are non-magical ways to slow ageing as well. I recommend Dirk Pearson's Life Extension. Any anti-oxidants will work wonders.

if you take HGH you age process slows and you are running on a fast metabolism if you take that drug, but that drug along with HcG you start to almost get younger with sperm count up in the sky,.

according to what ive read so far its not good to take hormones of any kind because that would upset the hormone balance leading to all sorts of negative effects. ive read more than once too that taking groth hormones leads to cancer.
does anyone else have an opinion or information about this? im really interested in life extension. this topic gets way too little credit.

Every sort of lipid based hormones is especially dangers because other then peptide based hormones which dock at the cell membrane and activate a protein cascade lipid hormones pass the cell membrane, dock in the cytoplasm to their receptor and then go directly into the core to activate DNA-activity. This is, in a greater amount, dangerous because the larger the amount of direct activations of the DNA the more likely it is that a mistake occurs which can lead to mutation --> cancer. Every type of sexual hormones counts as lipid hormone like testosterone or estrogen, that is why the anti-baby pill can be dangerous and it is always said that they can be a risk factor for cancer. Also in hormone therapies there comes also this risk with taking hormones, especially for older people (>45) where the immune system is not so good anymore in taking out those cancer seeds.

Well, I guess a few facts will be quiet obvious but I will just repeat the clinical facts as well as some maybe unknown little options:
- eat well, ovo-lacto-vegetarism is the most healthiest diet known so far, but also if you consume meat it isn´t a real damage to your life, of course depending on the amount.
- Don´t overexercise yourself when doing sport, doing to much is bad for your joints and bones, but staying fit is still necessary to keep your muscles and hearth strong. Especially in the later age exercise is important because over time it becomes more and more difficult to build and keep up your motion system muscles.
- 4 glases of red wine per week are good for preventing cancer (due to Resveratrol), same counts for apples (1 apple a day keeps the doctor away [wink] )
- look left and right before crossing a street, cars are contraproductive for live extension
- It is helpful to have a goal for yourself (besides living long), especially in your older age where many people have no real dayly business anymore or something else which keeps the spirit up.
- Good mood is always good for health
- Be careful with drugs and medication and always read the information. Don´t be paranoid but even though when your doctor always insist of giving you antibiotics even for the slightest colds, ask yourself if this is necessary. Strong medication is not always just poison for the germs, but maybe also for you.
- Consider your own genes and look a little bit around in your closer family, how long have they lived? That maybe give you an impression how long your time on this planet is.
That were some points which may make your life longer (of course always considering your own circumstances). Basically it is all about your own health and prophylaxis, so quiet medical based. Magickal work is one point which falls somehow in between "keeping your mind sharp" and "body exercise". Meditation is of course always a possibility (considering you do it right and not those weekend courses done by a pseudo-guru), keeps your stress level low and yourself calm and focused (also depending on the kind of meditation). I know most of what I said is known and common sense but they are still facts, mostly based on medical studies and empirical data.
I don´t think that there really is a magickal way of gaining physical immortality. I know, there are many incredible things which can be done by the craft, but by talking about "immortality" we are talking not only about surviving 2 or 3 generations, but living forever, seeing civilisations come and go, continental change, the outdying of whole species. You would be left behind by evolution. I don´t think that many people which talk about immortality have those points and a few others in their mind at least that is my experience.
Keep in mind, I am talking about PHYSICAL immortality.
I am curious and would like to know where this knowledge comes from? I studied a lot the influence of such techniques on the human body, not only by self practice but I also looked over several experiments but I have never heard about such a sensation.Moreover opening chackram makes palms better hormone control.

according to what ive read so far dairy products arent so healthy because the casein seems to promote cancer and because of the hormones and pus. other than that ive read that pasteurized milk isnt good for the arteries promoting arteriosclerosis. what are your opinions on that?
at the moment im kinda like a half vegetarian and eat eggs, meat(mostly beef) and fish occasionally, but most of my diet is plant based.

That is the bad thing about our agrar politics, I agree on that. But you have the same problem with vegetables and fruits, also here antibiotics and hormones are used + pesticides and other toxic chemicals. You have this problem with nearly every food in our western agrar production, in america more then in europe but still the gap is not that big between both. Basically milk products are important because of their big amount of calcium (important for your muscles and bones as well as the teeth and several other body functions like motion of muscles), I guess every elemntary school teacher already says that to his students. Also milk contains several vitamins and important fatty acids which work against the "bad cholesterine" and fats (risk factor for stroke) and are a substitution for the fatty acids you take up with meat. The problem is that the mind of an average person is afraid of time. Not only because of death but when you also take that away there is nothing left. You go into eternity until this universe implodes or becomes completly cold or whatever happens with it. You wil be the last living thing on that planet and then of this solar system and then, when this is gone, in the galaxy and so on. Not only millenia, billions of years will pass and everything else will become dust and ash. You will maybe see some societies rise and fall, will see some millenias pass where you may can keep up with evolution by using your mind. But what is after that? That will maybe last for another few millions of years, maybe a billion if you are lucky or 2. And then? What is a humble human without an end?whats so bad about seing civilizations come and go? and being left out of evolution is not that bad eighter since you can always make up for that with the knowledge accumulated in several millenia.
I personally prefer to die and then go wherever Odin or Ra wants to send me.

Hi , there is absolutley a way to slow aging, in fact to live forever. There are two different things. Everlasting life= living forever , and Eternal life = living in the realm of eternity now.
The thing is people who have not learned about fully taking in the DNA seedline of the Father into their soul, and body. The key is the blood , communion, though most in the mainstream has been distorted into the full intent and revelation of what is and the identity it is.
A christian has their spirit regenerated, but most christians know nothing about having their soul transformed, and their body transfigured. Interesting post Silvermage. the topic is deep, but let's start out simply. Nothing comes without a price. Slowing the aging process using metaphysical energy really needs to be combined with more physical means to be maximized. Regarding the purely physical aspect the first thing I'll tell you is to drop the tobacco and cut down the wine. Regular exercise and portion control will also be quite effective. These efforts will make quite a difference and the price is easily paid. Besides, you will save money. Metaphysically, There are the classical dieties Hecate and Apollo, who might be willing to help you out if you evoke them properly and they deem you worth their time. There are the Taoist alchemists, who have written a great deal on the topic as well. Some have turned to the Christian diety satan for assistance, but I know little of this venue. The Gods won't help you for nothing as I said. You have to make the right offering to the right diety in the way that will motivate the energy to interact with you. As I mentioned, the topic gets much deeper if you want to discuss it in any detail without judgement or juvenality. I will start you out by mentioning some things that have worked for me. Before it was associated with (dare one say trivialized by?) Western New Age associations it was claimed that successfully opening the chakras would result in dramatically increased intelligence and significant lengthening of the yogin's lifespan, though i don't know if anyone has ever documented such a result.

I made experiments, when I was young and cute.
I took leaves and tried to prolong the time before they began to wither. I normally took down two leaves at the time and placed each of them on a piece of white paper with perhaps a meter or two in between. One of the leaves I ignored and the other one I filled with positive energy every day, for perhaps a few minutes. I simply held my hand over it and imagined how I transferred energy. After perhaps a week I stopped and just left them be.
The result was that the leaf I ignored withered and had soon enough not a drop of water left in it. It was brown and dry so it would break into fragments if I squeezed it. The other one remained green for months. One day I had the intuitive feeling that I had to take a picture so I borrowed my mothers camera. I knew it would be to late if I did not. Next morning it had started to wither heavily.
I always had a feeling that if this could be done with leaves, why not be able to do it with humans? Just a thought
