hello everyone

Post by dancing-with-dragons »

I suppose I should have posted here first, before jumping into the other forums lol. But oh well, here's my formal introduction :)

My name is Ben. I a 17 years old, and belong to an extremely conservative family. (Think Mennonite, but not THAT conservative ) . I began studying the occult when I was 13, when I stumbled on an astral projection topic in a science exam forum. Since then, I have studied under two teachers, long distance. I have had some success with lucid dreaming, but not much. The teacher who I looked to for trustworthy information passed away recently. So I came here, looking to meet some like minded friends and further my studies. I have already found you all to be very kind and interesting people. :)
I have one major problem, I am not consistent. It's something I need to take care of. But it stops me from reaching my goals. I am hoping that by joining this forum, it will help me to not give up, and to be consistent.

Thanks!

Ben

Hi Ben and welcome to the forum.

It's nice to be introduced formally. My real name is Geri. [grin]

I'm 47 and still not consistent all the time, lol, but I like being a little scattered,as it fits with my life circumstances and my short attention span.I have to make myself focus,so I do understand that it can be difficult at times.

Would you mind posting something about Mennonite beliefs and lifestyle?

Not now,but later,if you wish.

I'd like to know more about Anabaptism, from someone who has direct living experience, but only if you feel comfortable doing so,of course.

I attended a Baptist church and Sunday School for two years and I greatly enjoyed doing so. [I did this of my own volition,as I was being raised RC.]

Thanks, Nahemah :)

And yes, I would love sharing some things about the anabaptst lifestyle. Thank you for the oppurtunity! Which forum is most suitable to post such information?

I'm not sure where is best.

Reason and Unreason is the folder where folk often post about personal spiritualities, but I'm not sure if that's a good fit.

Have a look round and see where you think suits.I can move posts if need be,so it should be fine if you post somewhere then think it's better elsewhere. [thumbup]

And thank you for agreeing to write about your faith,
I'm looking forward to reading about it and learning more about why you believe as you do. [thumbup]

I would like to also assure you that it will not be a debating thread and I would not make any challenging posts. [thumbup]

Hello, dancing-with-dragons :)

It can be a rough bridge to be raised conservative Christian and study the occult. I wish you well in the combination of paths :) Welcome :)

[thumbup] Welcome!

Looking forward to learning about your faith. Everything, or notion, fits in somewhere.

Don't worry about being consistant. I think the more we go through life, the more inconsistance becomes the norm. [greensmile]
