pdf and other files sources
I have been trying to find books on pdf files (free ) because I am on disability and cannot afford buying my favorite mental drug of choice- books- those wonderful items I can hold in my hands and highlight, underline, cross reference dogear, hold up to my nose and inhale the glorious flavor of knowledge- especially the older and molder the better types. Like my wonderful 120 year old morals and Dogma by Pike. (Hells is my brain cumming?) anyway, I know the complaints of piracy and all that, but I gotta read what I wanna read. But other than Slideshare, I have not been able to find any sources which actually have the book the claim that got me there made; or does not try to load me up with all kinds of bullshit and or hidden goodies.
Does anyone have any sources for free pdf or other files which they like and are safe and accurately stocked? I am also kinda computer disabled, and am not real sure about 'torrents', are they ok?
Thanks

I kinda like scribd, but it says you can download for free, everytime I try it tells me that I have to pay money to subscribe. And way beyond frustrating is when they have a book title which make my brain salivate, and then it only shows half the pages. I may be missing something. But I really wish everyone who downloads to scribd, would do so on Slideshare. I have gotten lotsa awesomeness for REAL FREE.

More free mind drugs that haven't been mentioned yet. I've downloaded from these websites before and it was safe when I did it:
http://darkbooks.org/collection/categories.html
http://www.holybooks.com/
If there is an ebook version of the book or if anyone has ever scanned and uploaded it, chances are it can be found for free on the internet somewhere. If there is a book title you want to read then just type in the title and then the words "pdf" or "epub" after it in Google and the websites that host the free PDF will come up. Sometimes there's even a direct link to the PDF.
