Post by tnmagik »

Hi all -

[thumbup] I am so happy to have stumbled across this forum, and I really look forward to becoming a part of this community and diving into all the TONS of info I've already seen just by browsing around! Feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all, to be honest!

I've been reading and studying the occult for a couple years - mostly high magick - but I am so fearful of "dabbling" that I've yet to really "jump in" and practice. I have such a great respect for the arts, the thousands of years of history, and the potential power that can result that I am probably a little overly cautious about getting my feet wet! I practice some basic banishments and meditation techniques, breathing, etc. but other than that I feel kind of "stuck" because I'm solo and just not sure where to go/what to do. There's such a great variety of opinions out there, that I'm doing my best to determine source credibility, etc. I'm VERY thankful to have found this forum so I can talk to others and expand my knowledge, get advice, etc.

I'm 30 years old, male, gay, native East Tennessean & I live in the mountains of Eastern Tennessee... It's a beautiful place with lots of nature - I truly do have a very unique and special place to practice spirituality, and just being in and around nature is quite a blessing to me. I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and I have always been quite the skeptic of all thing "spiritual," but I am also humble enough to admit that there are some things we just don't understand - or can't comprehend - and perhaps weren't meant to. I am a man of science, but I fully accept that human research and our scientific understanding is still very primitive and elementary compared to what it out there in the universe about which we just simply have no clue... So I think that "acceptance of not knowing and being unable to understand" is what allows me, though a skeptic and believer in science, to be so open and "in touch" with this persuasion. (It's hard to really put it into words to be honest! lol)

But thanks for this forum - to whoever is responsible for it - and I very, very much look forward to meeting folks and reading all the resources here. I don't know where to start!! Any tips? Suggestions? Other advice considering my situation of having been studying but fearful due to my great respect of the magickal arts to really get started? ???

Blessings! [cool2]

Oh yes, this is a splendid forum indeed. We had tea and krumpets for new people but I ate all the krumpets. Sorry.

"Those who step into the footsteps of someone else don´t leave any own leads!"

A saying by a german novellist called "Wilhelm Busch" (own translation).

Welcome here in the forum, tnmagik ( I feel like I have read that name before somewhere, but not sure).
Don´t forget to value your own opinion as well, tradition is nice, but not all [happy2]

Have fun and nice discussions, we don´t bite (mostly).

Ramscha
bye bye

;D [grin] ;D Thank you all for such warm welcomes!! It makes me feel like I'm the guest of honor at a party! [gz] LOL. I have already been AMAZED by the vast information, knowledge and experience I've seen browsing and reading some of the forums. Don't think I've drifted away if you don't see me start posting right away... You kind of get the gist of how I am, my personality & approach from my initial post here - I just tend to soak up info and others' advice but don't do much advising myself. I've barely practiced other than basic banishments and relaxation techniques because I am sooo fearful of "dabbling" ... almost to the point I need to get over it and get on with it or I'll be a seasoned and experienced beginner for the rest of my life!! [lol] [lol] LOL.

But I do, really & seriously, appreciate all the welcomes. I am already getting such wonderful and powerful energy from this forum that I know it's going to be an amazing thing for me. As a novice I couldn't be more excited and optimistic about my involvement and membership here!

I hope everyone's having a super duper Monday!! [cool]

PS - @Ramscha I haven't been on any of the other boards (though I did register for two others yesterday in addition to this one, but I'm not sure if I've been "approved" yet or not at those... this one seems to be the most active thus far... but there could be another 'tnmagik' out there somewhere? ya never know... i tried for tnmagick but it wouldn't take it, so i just dropped the c. i'm the same on the other two as well... Occult Corpus Forums and The Fool Speaks are the other two I registered for. I'll drop by and check those out later today)....

Okay, no, it was already a while ago, a year or so. No problem though!
Just feel welcome here, since we have no krumpets anymore I would offer some fried grashoppers [yay]

You have gotten an abnormal level of responses for an introduction thread. I think it's because of what you wrote.

[grin] That's not a bad thing, is it??
I'm very thankful for this forum - and if I've gotten an abnormal number of responses on my intro then I'll take that as a sign I'm exactly where I need to be! :D
