Lessor Keys of Solomon *New here*

Post by rach84 »

I started looking into the Lessor Keys of Solomon, my significant other introduced me... and I am a tad bit cautious on what I am doing. I have NEVER messed with conjuring demons. I have never wanted to, but I have slowly gained a curiosity towards it. My significant other told me I should start out with the first one, always cast a circle for protection. My fear is getting into deep, where I can't get out. I'm doubting myself miserably. Just need some insight.

Maybe before starting with summoning the inhabitants of Hell, Ginnungagap, Abyssos and other deeps you should start with some general basics.
There are plenty of threads for that and somewhere I also saw a copy of the key laying around in one of the threads if you search for it.

I personally would not recommend the key for a beginner. Those beings may not be the most complex ones of the whole hierachy but messing with them is not healthy either.

Maybe you should start over with the basics (A personal recommedation from my side would be Franz Bardons "Initiation into hermetics" - freely available via google) and then decide what would be your league after your first experiences with the lower planes.

Just a personal statement, but do as ever it pleases you [thumbup]

Thank you! I will check that out. I don't plan on doing anything until I read a lot. I want to know what I am getting into before invoking something that I have no idea of it's power. I also don't want any lingering things. When I close out, I want it gone until invoked again. I have the Crowley Thoth deck, do you know anything about this? He made a statement about not mixing the two but could the cards be used to help summons? Just getting some idea... also I do own a Hermetic deck as well. I really don't use the Thoth deck. Checked it out after I bought it and haven't used it since because there is something about them that I can't place. I also own a Hermetic deck. So could these two decks help with anything?

I think using Tarot cards for ceremonies is a great use, it is not only limited to divination.
To reveal some of my own things I use tarot cards too, I use the Rider-Waite Deck mostly, using it for specific correspondences is great, especially beeing creative in using every cards own symbolds.

Crowley said many things, don´t let him limit your approach.

I have read a lot about The Lesser Keys of Solomon... and I don't care for the way they are invoked. Is there another way? I may sound really stupid but I feel very weird about bringing God into invoking demons. Sorry i'm full of questions.

Hello Rach84,

The whole point of the Key is that it is through your connection to Higher Positive powers that you can command the dark ones. Unlike modern notions of a pact with Satanic powers, the Medieval and Renaissance magicians were the ones in charge and put the demons to work for them.

In my own experience with Invocation, I have found that Trataka Yoga training and self-hypnosis are very helpful for entering the trance state the is central to operations of Invocation and Evocation, such as would be used for the demons of the Goetia. I have a great technical and abstract knowledge of this but have not done it (I know I could) also for, partially, the reason you mentioned; the Judeo-Christian aspects. But, if Poke Runyon can worship Canaanite gods and successfully work the Goetia I suppose I could do it too!

This is pretty neat stuff! Thanks for the info guys!... i'm still studying and looking into things. I hate to say it, but i'm a little scared... as I have never done this before and i'm afraid i'm not strong enough. I don't want them overpowering me and I feel as I am a weak one. I feel this will take a lot of meditation first.

If you have those feelings you should not engage in Goetic operations. I would advice you to work with the Angels first using the Almadel.

I thought studying and meditating more I would be ok. I just want them to be gone when i'm done. I don't want them lingering around. I haven't attempted to do anything yet because of how I feel... I won't take part of anything until I know I am strong enough. My significant other has practice, he believes that I can do it, and that I am strong enough, I just wish I had that confidence, I think fear is my worst enemy right now.

Hello Rach84,

The Goetic system is designed to address all your fears. You do not have to worry about them hanging around because there are banishing rituals which clear your space. They are not 'around' anyway since they manifest in a dark mirror that is in a triangle. They do not move beyond that space. Finally, and most importantly, when you engage in a Goetic operation you use not only the Divine names but specific angels who are governors of the demons. There are also the four Archangels who are at the four quadrants of the circle that protects you.

If you are interested in this area the best thing is to begin building the knowledge base and skills you need to be successful.

Here is an example for your consideration:

I wouldn´t be to worried about suppressing the fears since you will be confronted with them during your work anyway. You don´t have to avoid them, they will come to you by themselves.

For the work with the demons: I personally don´t like the ceremonial procedures of the goethia and also not of the Armandel. I also wouldn´t say that the angels are more harmless then the demons. There are much easier ways instead of the whole psychodrama, in the end it is just the will which is focused.
You can sit down in front of the drawn sigil, masturbating and crying the name of the demon out until you lie shivering on the floor (because of orgasms, not of fear [happy2] ) and still have the same effect as mumbeling and commanding for 30 minutes into the air and to waggle with your staff.

If you are interested in more work and talking to people which are really focused on that topic I could recommend you this homepage:

Thanks guys! All the info is great. So you said they come in like a scrying mirror? I have heard people say they can feel like they are touching you? And sometimes you hear them talk?

If you have your heart set on the Lesser Key, then for all the gods sakes, use ALL the paradigm, not just bits and pieces. You need all the process and all the protection. You don't need solid gold seals and a lion hair belt, but you should use gold and silver spray paint and something that resembles a belt made of hair. Of all the paradigms, the Lesser Key requires the most preparation. If you don't want to command demons, then maybe Demonolatry is the way to go?

Agree with Case.

You can have a look at Experimental Demonology and then at his journal.

I've never experienced with the Goetia but I'm interested by the subject. According to the aforementioned articles, you need no special experience or practice you just need to stick to the exact procedure and use the proper paraphernalia. (for instance, the triangle is used only if all previous conjurations failed, magic mirrors are a later addition.)

I've tried to map the Goetia into my chaos magick paradigm and my temporary conclusion is that it's a system that is coherent only if you apply it wholly. So I'll try one day but this will require time to gather material, place and specific time for the ritual. In the meanwhile I've ordered a book on demonology by the author of the article.

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't play with the Goetia and use it only if you have a specific goal. The whole stuff looks very old fashioned but if you look at the current pop culture filled with vampires, zombies and demons you see that the theme is still actual and an improper use of the Goetia will potentially damage your psyche.

BTW, what is a "significant other"?

PS: There is currently a deal on ebay for a 400$ lion skin (this is cheap, I've seen some for more than 10000$) that could be turned into quite a lot of belts. If I lived in the US I would buy it and resell the bits ;)

From my experience, it sounds like you're getting yourself worked up for nothing. I have tried summoning a Goetic demon and nothing bad happened. In fact, I've never heard of anybody ever getting killed or maimed by summoning a demon. The worst that could happen is possession, but that is very rare and easily preventable. Even if you were a Christian and believed you'd go to hell for being in cohorts with demons, even that might not happen because you're forgiven if you repent for it and don't do it again. Chances are that either nothing will happen or it'll go fine. Don't let the way horror movies depict summoning demons influence you because it's nothing like that in real life. Just like how real seances are nothing like how they depict them.

Hello ThreeWhens,

You are correct one should not pay attention to horror films as sources of occult knowledge. However, it might be the opposite extreme to underestimate these entities. The safeguards were built into the system for reasons, probably based upon experience. I also don't think a successful Goetic operation is like a séance. In my experience with both Spiritualists and Ceremonial Magick I find them different; the predicate of 'spirit summoning' is not identical between them. One could use techniques akin to a séance to evoke Goetic entities with their sigils (like in Haitian Voodoo) but I would not advice that.
