a dream from the gods?

Post by autodydact »

It's an argument as old as time: dreams/visions. A higher power communicating? Tapping into collective unconscious? Subconscious mutterings? It will never be put to bed it seems (no pun intended), but I am interested in anyone's experience of such. I recently had a very interesting nights sleep after consuming a tea brewed of wormwood (which is entirely legal where I live). I cannot speak for any notable psychoactive results whilst awake (perhaps a feeling of very mild relaxation akin to drinking a beer), but my dreams that night were very vivid and I remembered them with great clarity.

Amongst the countless dreams I had (including several which occurred whilst I was apparently awake and once coming very close to a semi voluntary projection, before deciding I was neither mentally prepared, nor properly protected for such an eventuality) there was one which stayed with me... I was standing in my room, in front of my altar. There were a man and woman present. The man I can remember no detail of, the woman was wearing only a deer skin draped across her shoulders and a simple loin cloth, with several pieces of Celtic jewellery. I instinctively new her to be some sort of priestess/druid and was told by the man, who was apparently of higher rank, that I was to be initiated by her. I was stripped nude and an animal pelt was placed around my shoulders as I was led into my garden where candles were lit. I was forced to kneel and kiss the ground whilst the female chanted in a language I do not recognize (If I were to say it were some form of Welsh or Gaelic, I fear I would be elaborating to suit my own purposes. I honestly can't remember). I was then asked to drink from a chalice at which point a third person cut my throat. The woman comforted me, but seemed unsurprised. Blackness closed in and I awoke into a new dream, which for some time I thought was real life, as it was entirely mundane. It was only upon rewaking into this real life that I became aware that it too had been a dream.

Wether a subconscious fantasy, a message from above or something else, I am not overly concerned... however it has occupied my mind for many hours since and was for me, perhaps the most spiritual experience of my life.

Sorry for the double post, but I thought it worthwhile to point out to anyone who considered dabbling in wormwood that should you do so, note that is incredibly bitter and it takes a certain amount of determination to consume. I blended it with a lot of honey to make it bearable.

Hello Autodydact,

To fully grasp the significance of a dream it has to be placed in the context of your life and personality. It may be possible that there is some communication here and there are such things as Astral Initiations and work. But, that keeps it locked firmly in that ambiguous realm of 'the possible,' so is there any way to grasp a hold of it? I would suggest two things: first, watch for any CLEAR sychronicities or manifestations in your life. Not something that you have to massage it to fit, but something clear; second, meditate upon the core image of the dream. I suppose I should also suggest learning about lucid dreaming.
