What is it like to have astral sight?
What is it like to have astral sight?
What is it like to be able to see entities, astral trash, auras, and things like that? Are the entities transparent-looking? Do they look like normal people? Do they just appear out of thin air? Do they glow and float? Can you turn the sight on and off, or is it always there bugging you? Can you see spiritual things better in the dark?

Re: What is it like to have astral sight?
Its like being asleep and awake at the same time - the astral is like a layer that overlays the real world. When you affect entities in the astral, its like youre manipulating shadows of real things - slightly opaque and a bit shaded around the edges. People mostly perform astrally in a trance like state, because being fully awake and also astral is too confusing.
For me, the astral is a white layer over the top of a 'real world' form - when the astral form is manipulated, its the white layer that gets changed, not necessarily the material form underneath. Manipulations in the astral can affect the material, so a certain carefulness is necessary, otherwise you can really screw stuff up. Special care is therefore necessary, otherwise changes can be made that cant be reversed - such as destroying the astral form, or merging two forms together. I personally believe that some mental health conditions are the result of damage done in the astral.

In my experience I have also seen this hazy effect that Case mentions so I can confirm that. Additionally, there are sometimes what I would describe as clouds of astral light that move more freely without attachment to any particular object. They seems to be more the energy flow of the place, so far as I know. As to beings, they seem to fall into four categories. The aura is similar and I think falls in this category.
The first are what are definitely higher, positive powers. They will appear as flashes of light and phosphone in brighter clouds. There is always a strong positive emotional charge associated with them.
The second are astral creatures that the Bhagavatam (Cantos five & eight) calls 'ghostly species' of various types (I think these are what are responsible for the UFO phenomena). What this text would call Yakshsa we call, roughly, Elementals. There is a slight illumination but they predominantly appear as a transparent gel in space. What I mean by that is, there is three-dimentional form that is more of an outline. They are sometimes hazy. On the very edge of my space I have sometimes seen taller humanoid figures like this and I wondered if they were someone from the Forum projecting.
The third are the common shadow figures or clearly human forms. I see these only for a second or two and they look like two-dimensional images of people.
The fourth are the clearly negative entities. These appear as dark clouds which are blacker than black and they have an unpleasant charge to them.
I am still working on developing my clairvoyance so I expect this to become more refined. Plus, I think there is also a subjective aspect to this perception. I don't know if it is exactly like looking a Queen Ann chair in an aunt's living room and all see the same thing in the same way. My recommendation is to practice Trataka Yoga. That is how I did it.

Are you talking astral or ethereal? Its like being asleep and awake at the same time - the astral is like a layer that overlays the real world. The astral is a different realm. The ethereal plane overlays the physical world.
With practice you can see the physical and ethereal at the same time and choose when to dim your sight. I turn it as close to off as I can in nursing homes and hospitals. I just don't want to see that shit.

I used the word 'astral,' but, RoseRed is correct, this is more the Etheric.

Yeah, I can be annoyingly specific at times.

For me "Astral Sight" can be a pain if im tired. Because thats when my body decides to do what it wants. For me it varies on the concentration or the amount of exhaustion. Fully awake and Concentrating I can see people and objects in full detail. Sometimes it slips into projection if Im following someone or something.
