Scrying and the purple junk
I've come to notice that for as much as I enjoy trying to train my visual memory and visualization processes - either in the lane in front of me while I'm driving, on a black mirror, even on my bedroom wall, it seems like once occular fatigue sets in I get what I'll just simply call 'the purple junk' and so much of it that it distracts my medium. If it's a black mirror it gets bad enough that I can't even see the mirror anymore - it's just a block of this purple fuzz. Similarly trying to imagine, lets say, a spot to project a tattwa on my wall, often times still being new at this I have certain inherent angles or objects that I'll use as markers for a frame and I start visually losing those because they get superceded by the purple as well as starting to fade into the wall as if they weren't there.
My question - is this just an intermediate growing/groaning phase that everyone goes through in the process? Is it something to just chin-up and truck through or is it a sign that I might want to try something a bit differently? Thankfully this isn't happening with my tarot cards at least but then again I suppose that's a process in reverse - ie. trying to 'give in' to an image that's already there rather than trying to willfully guide my mind's eye to project one where there is none as of yet.

Meh, to be more accurate I'm forgetting - it's a swirling of two different colors, the purple and the pea soup green. The pea soup green tends to be less the distraction and more the background white-out (ie. making things that are there kind of fade out) whereas the purple blobs tend to more actively distract.

You either have to high blood-pressure. Or you have a tenancy to get migraine.
What you are seeing is basically your own blood. The sides of the eyes are not as good at determining color as the center, so red becomes everything from blue to black, or in your case purple.
The other thing you are seeing is the fluid in the eyes. which might be white, yellow or something like that.
If your blood pressure is too high, this can happen when you are sitting still. It's like tinnitus, you don't hear it when you have sound around you,but you hear it when it's quiet.
And if you have migraine in your family it can be because your neck is to stiff, or that you are holding it in an unnatural position and tensing it.
In both cases. Losing weight and developing your trapezoid muscles will help.

It could be either or it could be physical as stated above. If it is physical - you're looking in the mirror with the wrong set of eyes.

I like this expression, "the wrong set of eyes". Actually this is correct. Pay no attention to the distraction, the mirror and or stone etc., is a tool, and not where the "magic happens" as they say.RoseRed wrote:It could be either or it could be physical as stated above. My grandfather (one of my teachers) used to say "look there, not here." It is a higher plane you are actually looking into, not the physical. The "there", will arise and fill your field of vision when you manage to find it. The mirror is a way to neutralize your attention, and provide a blank field, and sometimes one of blank depth (which helps many).
Do not over strain, do not try too hard for too long. This may be what you are doing. It is a delicate operation, and takes time for some to get the knack of it. Even when you do, it is not always available at a whim. I still at times find it not easy to "get in" when I want. There are factors infinite and unknown to be sure.

Re: Scrying and the purple junk
This kind of just happens after I even simply 'zone out' in the same direction for five minutes. It's not that I'm trying to rip every molecule apart as if hunting for something nor am I trying to force anything with my mind - it's a bit more like visual burn in just hits a threshold where it runs wild and that's pretty much where the purple and green starts running a bit over.
And no - for as many times as I've had physicals and blood pressure taken no one's said a thing about hypertension.

I get something similar if I just zone, like if I focus on anything or move my eyes even the slightest its gone. I've also noticed that once it happens once, it's easier to make it happen again. In my case it's like a black cloud that eventually will black out my entire field of vision (although I usually am not able to maintain my focus or "unfocus" for long enough to make it happen, as the effect can be distracting and it requires complete control and stillness), but only if I try to just zone and not "see" what's in my field of vision, and I discovered it's easier to bring on if I work myself into ritual trance. It's also easier to bring on while staring into something black.
The other day I decided to take up scrying, and at first it seemed like it would be a problem, but later I started thinking that it might actually be a good medium for visions and whatnot, like a black mirror that encompasses the entire field of vision.

Unless my eyes get really relaxed and traffic holds really still that shouldn't be a problem.
