Dialoguing with Anima/Animus?

Out of curiosity are there any particularly well thought-out books that are good for working with anima/animus?

Seems like when laying down and healing within the arms of our significant-inner we have a portal on our hands and it's not only an incredible means of access to healing and righting the imbalances within self but, at least in my experience, it's building a relationship with your own gateway to the inner planes and corroborating with your internal guardian. I'd love to increase my strides inwardly in this manner and I'm curious if anyone else has had significant luck in this endeavor or if there were any publications, such as particular expansions on Jung, that taught them a few things that helped them along the way.
