Is that the Haiti Voodoo religion where god didn't create existence and the deamons are ruthless? My kind of spirits, but I've never been invited to be initiated.

Until I found this forum the only occult I knew of was LeVay and his off shoots. Plus, technically to me it is/was hidden from me. [grin] but I've heard reference of everything not Christian as being occult. There's a lot more flavores than I've been lead to believe as I also thought everything you mentioned as occult synonimis with satanism.

Nope. Satanism is only one little corner of the occult world.

People can spend their entire lives seeking knowledge and it's not long enough to uncover all that's been hidden (including in plain site).

Occult for me started with LeVay
You have a god complex and found Laveyan satanism first....of course you did. Ha!
Has anyone read material or seen the man in black? An elderly figure all dressed in black, top hat, cane, day suit, with red eyes?
*chill down spine* Yes!I was taken through a guided meditation where the pieces of information that I filled in the blanks for were explained in relation to the stimulus material I was being given. I cant remember what the representation of the house, or its interior décor represented but I saw 'the man with the black top hat' standing their. A horrible sense of dread followed.

If you do a google search it comes up with alot of hits. I was surprised at how common experiences with him are, fear is also a common association.

But my reaction was exactly the opposite. Not fear, more like friendship. I haven't read anything about him having red eyes, mine had red eyes. But te description of an elderly man with a top hat in Victorian attire seems almost constant around the web.

Quimbanda is unrelated to haiti or vodou, and originates from Brazil. It is a highly syncretic and fluid practice, that is a varied living tradition. Its difficult to find information out of print, as with most things, what is written on the internet is not particularly helpful, informative, or correct.
'Flores noctis sumus atque alas pandimus, In profundis tenebrarum.'
