Collecting Info on Practical Necromancy

Post by Manannanson »

I am writing a document on practical necromancy (not ceremonial/high magic variety) and thus I am collecting information on the subject. I already have a considerable amount, but need more. If anybody has anything to contribute, I would gladly welcome their input.

Well, where would we start? You will have to tell us what exactly you require in terms of information, because the field of Necromancy is quite vast. You can contact us back, but you have to be extremely specific as to what information you require.

Kindest regards, Araignee.

Could you define what you mean by "practical necromancy"?
because the field of Necromancy is quite vast.
Not really, it's actually quite specific - communicating with the dead for the purpose of obtaining information about the future.

'The Path of Illumination'
he who gives himself to this path
is like a block of wood
that gives itself to the chisel-
cut by cut it is honed to perfection"

That is the case if you take the word entirely literally, but it has gained many connotations within the last few hundred years. The term itself has even been conflated alongside black magick, ie nigromancy due to christian meddling, and all aspects of working with the dead have been slowly folded into being conflated with the term especially in modern use.

I don't particularly see an issue with this, personally. There are numerous subdivisions one could wax and wane on about but it is a pointless semantical debate that takes away from the ops question in my eyes.
