Looking for the ruler of insects

Post by magari »

Looking for a god/demon/angel/whatever who's dominion was closely related to the insect kingdom.

There is a presence which speaks through these creatures. What paradigm am I looking for?

The Scorpion goddess is a figure found in several cultures.

Ishhara (or Ishkhara or Ishara)- Mesopotamian goddess of Love, mother of the seven Sebettu. She was often identified with Ishtar as a fertility goddess. One tradition assigned her to the Semitic grain god Dagan as spouse. Her symbol was the scorpion;[1]
Chelamma - Hindu goddess of the Southern Karnataka region of India
Malinalxochitl - Aztec goddess of snakes, scorpions and insects
Hedetet - Egyptian scorpion goddess
Ta-Bitjet - Egyptian goddess with anti-venomous secretions, consort to Horus
Serket - patron goddess of the Pharaohs and deification of the scorpion

Tithonus is a good find.

I'm reluctant to see the similarities between what I'm experiencing and what the scorpion usually represents.

However, reading over Tithonus's story surrounding immortality is a continuation of another experience which has led to this one.

I'm leaning towards a lesson in Air energy since that has been something I've typically avoided and seems to have correlations with multiple views surrounding insects and the fairy, which is a paradigm I've been ignoring.

Thanks for the help though.

There are several good to work with western spirits that fit into this category. Both the daemons Lilith and Asmodeus have heavy connections with spider spirits and associated teachings. (I know these arnt insects, but cest la vie)

And the first thing you assume is that you need to find the ruler of the insects. Really?!?

There is a presence that speaks through them. Itself. If it's a grasshopper it's a grasshopper, grasshopper.

Do you really think that it's the ruler of insects (as stated in the title) that's trying to talk to you?

Rose concern is misplaced.

However, I am looking for parallels in mythology.

Something that has a strong affinity with insects. Something that in myth might claim dominion over the insect kingdom.

Lets keep this civil and on topic, or it'll get closed too. [thumbup]

Magari: Air energy/ fairies..Winged insects?

Just wondering on that and on thinking, there are many folktales and and strands of myth from various cultures concerning this, where different deities and entities are correlated/ connected with a particular insect.

Am I being too general with this or would these be helpful to you?

Actually everything I'm finding is very specific. I'm looking for something that might correlate to the entire insect kingdom. However, I am leaning towards flying, buzzing, perhaps annoying insects.

It seems to be correlating towards a rising of air energy. yes.
