The big web of Occult practise.
The big web of Occult practise.
Wouldnt it be cool if we had an international group that teaches its members occult practises. I know this forum is also cool but its not really for teaching something. Also it would be safer then joining cults.

Re: The big web of Occult practise.
There are already loads of groups around the world that fit the given description. The OTO, for example, operates all over the world and teaches Thelemic magick. I'm not entirely sure what the difference between an "international group" and a cult would be, though. [happy]

Well that is pretty much what the forum is for.
Although, I'm not against doing some group activities. The only problem is that we have some who have practiced for years and some who are just starting out.

Re: The big web of Occult practise.
Thats the point. Master practicioners can teach to starters thats the whole idea. Plus forums are not really a place to learn about Occult and practise it. Forums are a place to ask questions if you know the topic well enough and as you said I also think that there are more starters in the group then professional practioners. So we must integrate the forum into a group.

Re: The big web of Occult practise.
I know some forums have closed sections that only members can access.
The older members can post an exercise and us newbies will practice them for a week, then we switch to the next exorcise.
We could then use the forum to discuss the experience and ask questions, or just share the experience as such.

Re: The big web of Occult practise.
Actually this is a great idea and there can be a section dedicated for it called "Teaching" and as you mentioned this section may only be open for forum members. [thumbup]Desecrated wrote:I know some forums have closed sections that only members can access.

Re: The big web of Occult practise.
A week really isn't long enough to garner the benefits of most exercises, and such an approach seems likely to result in people performing a mashup of beginners techniques and never getting anywhere advanced.

Re: The big web of Occult practise.
Still. It just doesn't make sense - like trying to learn martial arts by going to a different school every week and learning a different technique each time. You just won't get anywhere. It makes more sense by far to find a complete system of training composed of exercises which build on each other and then dedicate yourself to systematically mastering them one by one.Desecrated wrote:A month then.Rin wrote:A week really isn't long enough to garner the benefits of most exercises, and such an approach seems likely to result in people performing a mashup of beginners techniques and never getting anywhere advanced.

Re: The big web of Occult practise.
If we open the section I do believe we will be able to conduct the following procedures. Think about the fact that by opening a teaching section the methods and practise will be learned more truely. Becouse it will be under control of the teacher. And it is easier to lern these kind of things with a person who knows.

We actually did this. I trained in shotokan karate for many years and we would often go to other clubs and join in on their practice, we even held special weekends when we invited all the martial art clubs in the area to give lectures.
I will assume that everybody here already have some sort of style or school that they are going to follow but, you can use the same stretching exercises in teakwondo as you do in kung fu.
You can use the same strengthening exercises in judo as you do in sumo.
Nobody is asking for a complete fucking system being taught over an internetforum, But maybe some fun tips and pointers.
What would you do more of, if you started over. Or what kind of mental/physical exercise are you doing now, that you wished you had known about when you started out.

Yes, I think this could be interesting. However, it depends on a few conditions , and how it is set up.Atzmuth wrote:So is there someone supporting this idea? Let me know.
Yep, agreed.Nobody is asking for a complete fucking system being taught over an internetforum, But maybe some fun tips and pointers.
I think it would be cool if it would be able to outline a core practices or interesting elements from a large variety of particular systems. Already there is many resources around online and on the forum but moving from solo studying could be interesting. Anyways, is what you are looking for more than a magical order but more of some open school or study organization? I like Desecrated's idea. Practical exercises would be a simple way of doing it. I think you just need to clarify your motivations and potential benefits if it did exist (as in it's objectives), and possibly see if an existing organization already carries such intentions in studying the occult.

Re: The big web of Occult practise.
We need such a group becouse by the help of professional practitioners new learners will reach their paths more easily. Plus there will be things that new ones wont understand. On adition this group will benefit for everyone who is willing to learn. This group willl make things easier to learn and practise.

I kindly disagree. What we need is one willing to teach, I suppose if teaching consists just of explaining ideas and describing practice. I presume it requires patience too. Perhaps the hardest thing is sympathizing or empathizing with your much more ignorant students. The main problem is that we don't have anybody on this forum fit for teaching.

We certainly have cunning folk on this site, but unlike other forums, I don't see anybody who have a desire to teach. Someone who posts tutorial after tutorial and are willing to take the responsibility.
What this forum do much better is share information. And especially share information from many different systems.
