Re: NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS: Post-Chaos Modern Demonology
G'day cyberdemon.
Is it possible to provide an estimate of how much work will be required on a daily/weekly basis to participate? I am very keen to give this a go, but the university semester starts tomorrow and I don't want to sign up for something I won't be able to complete. [unsure]
Many thanks!

Re: NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS: Post-Chaos Modern Demonology
It depends on how fast you can read and visualize concepts for the majority of the course. Lectures are the bulk of this course as practical assignments will be short and simple for the most part. You will also have to hand in written assignments - these will usually be wanted on a bi-weekly basis and if you simply keep up with the course, they will be a breeze to get through.

Re: Post-Chaos Modern Demonology
The course start date has been postponed to 3rd March 2015. Sorry for the delay, but it can't be helped. I've been a little busy and preparing the first few classes will take a little bit more time. Thanks for your patience.

Re: Post-Chaos Modern Demonology
I did my cleansing and banishment last night. Followed http://www.occultforum.org/forum/viewto ... 55&t=37421 but did LBRP with intonations of God names in Hebrew like I usually do. Everything energetically felt alive and... magical; that vibe where you're one with the universe. I sub-merged myself in the water and when coming up out of it my eyes were closed and I saw a distinct purple halo/ring which I know is a good sign when meditating but I've never had it happen before so that was cool and unexpected.

Brilliant, isn't it?
I'll try and get the first lesson up as soon as possible.

Re: Post-Chaos Modern Demonology
I'm curious to know, from part two of the class...
Are *any* prayers to the Great Admin of the Universe beneficial as protection? A lot of books I read really over simplify prayer as the end-all means of protection, and some even shun the use of talismans and the like for the sake of protection.
I have a few charms of my own that I've made, but they're all things I use on a daily basis. If I were to have a talisman for protection from spiritual entities, I would want to make a specific tool to only be used in envoking.
How powerful is prayer alone, however? I understand that a lot of it comes from intent, and with my energy work, I'm capable of projecting an aura of protection a few feet around me to a certain degree, but I've never tested it extensively on spiritual entities. But certain spell do hold power on their own, and I'd like to really know I have a back up in case my main means of defense fails. Would the LBRP be enough of a banishing ritual, for last resort protection? I've never gotten into the Higher banishing rituals of the Golden Dawn, but are they really even needed?

Empowering yourself using the name of the Admin? Yes. Directly addressing the Admin? No, not really. The Admin doesn't involve Itself in the actual play anymore.Haelos wrote:I'm curious to know, from part two of the class...

LBRP is a mere technique. Its importance is far exaggerated. You can achieve the same level of protection by alternative methods just as easy.
Higher banishing goes in the same vein as an exorcism, I think, or I'd hope so - since I've never bothered to look into it that far. Likewise, alternatives exist.
You must pick what you believe in, not just go blindly after what you think works because many people say it does.

Re: Post-Chaos Modern Demonology
I only said the LBPR because it's well known. I use a personalized, overly-altered version compared to the ritual the Golden Dawn uses. I also have two variances made out of it that are shorter, and quicker to cast. Basically a pentagram and cross Sigil that can be cast like nothing.cyberdemon wrote:Empowering yourself using the name of the Admin? Yes. Directly addressing the Admin? No, not really. Do these lower magicks really have that much power of protection against higher beings? I'm a little bit weary of that fact..

Re: Post-Chaos Modern Demonology
Those who signed up for this course went and answered LBRP in their application form for the do-you-do-any-rituals question. It's alright, it's a common practice for occultists and I won't argue that it has effectivity for a lot of us. But as with all Chaos Magick - it's what works, works. On that note, for each individual mage, their own beliefs and modifications empower their practices.Haelos wrote:I only said the LBPR because it's well known. Well, yes. They do. Depending on person to person of course, as do all acts of magick. Magick is a thing that puts the true character of a person to the test without them knowing it. If you've never believed in higher powers, play around with an ouija board, get attacked (because belief isn't a requirement, some acts are plug-and-play like that), and then scream and wail for "god" to help you - more often than not it'll just be the attacking entity doing damage and leaving on its own rather than being scared away or anything. That's just an example, there's more than that involved.
Sometimes its as simple as being confident with yourself. For example, right now you're very timid about your capabilities - it'll reflect in both your work and its outcomes. You're vulnerable as a result. But when you're sure that you're invincible, you become/are exactly that. Well, almost. If I had to put a number on it, it'd be like a 98.5% invincibility.

You're right that I'm timid in my capabilities of evocation, mostly because I've never done it. It's hard to have confidence to stand next to a Demon as a king, when you lack the proper knowledge to be interacting with such an entity.
I'm mostly just trying to make sure I have all the proper knowledge I need before really going through with anything. I've made mistakes in the past, and if there's anything I learned from them, it's that I don't know anything I think I do, and I definitely don't know enough.
These conversations have been boosting my confidence a lot, and once I actually know what it is I want out of contacting an entity, I feel like I'll be able to concoct a sufficient and powerful ritual.
It helps to have verification from better sources than my Self.

It's as much of a privilege to play a game as much as it is to moderate it when fundamentally, we're given the chance to enjoy the game whereas the moderators don't since they're busy doing their work.Haelos wrote:You're right that I'm timid in my capabilities of evocation, mostly because I've never done it. It might help you to sometime actually write about your own beliefs and understandings once instead of asking question after question - that way creases can be ironed out.

I only claim things as fact when I can verify the experience myself. Even when it comes to the Laws of Nature.
Even if I don't fully understand an event, I can at least prove that it happened, which is more than I can say about a lot.
I've had this conversation with Shinichi a little bit, but one big thing that I believe is I can't prove anything is *real* but myself. I am the only constant, and even I continue to change heavily each day, leaving my point-of-reference slightly deluded.
Every new information I receive is directly revived from God itself. I don't even believe that you really exist. You're simply emotion portrayed by God in the form of a text-post on a forum, because this is what my life dictates. This view leaves me quite lonely in everything, but it's the only thing that makes sense from my perspective. I don't believe anything in "the past" *actually* happened, it just Was, and now Is, for me to discover and learn.
Those previous paragraphs are the only constant ideas of my belief. Everything else changes almost daily as I receive new information and learn to understand myself better. I only stated those because of the fact they're the only things that have stuck with me since I set out on this path. Even worse, as I spoke with Shin, he didn't blatantly deny these ideas their truth (which I assume most people would, as humans seem to have a need to be validated in their existence), which led to me believing them that much stronger.

Another belief I've been coming to learn, is that Christianity was sort of the way to go all along, and my view has been completely misguided about the religion as a whole. I was blinded by the way Christians make Christianity seem, but Kabbalah is kind of telling me I should've been going to church when I was younger, but actually learning from it...
