I've been a Mason for 10 years - Blue Lodge , Royal Arch, and AMD. I've been interested in the esoteric / occult m entire life.
When I was in preschool I had an unnatural and according to my parents unprompted interest in / knowledge of Egypt.
When I was in first or second grade my parents took me to the museum specifically to see the Egyptian rooms- a huge treat. I can still rember riding the escalator up to see it and the huge statues coming into view and becoming violently ill. I started crying doubling over in pain. By the time we had gotten to the top of the escalators I had started to soil my pants. It was killing me because I needed to to go in.
This happened again on my 5th grade field trip and another family trip to the same museum but I made it to the restrooms in time.
I was in high school before I could actually walk into the exhibit and it was beautiful. It was worth the wait, but I could only stay for a short amount of time before I the abdominal pain started. I was able to manage though.
I am here seeking further guidance and to meet people. My AMD Council provided a great group to study the esoteric but I am needing more light.
I look forward to conversing with you all.
Greetings!

Hi and welcome to the forum. [grin]
That's a strong reaction, have you tried to find out more about it, or went to see any Ancient Egyptian exhibits again since ?

Hello Nameh
Yes I've been back several times as an adult and seen one exhibit at another museum. The reaction seems to have faded as I've gotten older - I'm 42 now.
Also I married a woman that unbeknownst to me was obsessed with Basenji's - Akn Attuns favorite breed as well as model for the head of Anubis.
And yes we bought one just a few years into our marriage.
Egypt has been a current running through my life so I'm thinking of joining a magickal order, either:
Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn
Builders of the Adytum
Fraternitas Lux Occulta
Do you have any thoughts or experiences with these three?

Re: Greetings!
I don't have any personal experience of the orders, but friends have and some of the members here do too.
I'm glad you don't have that reaction anymore, but it was interesting to read about, as I've had strong reactions to exhibits myself.
Some folk are sensitive to the energies in and around them and it can be quite literally, a headache, to be close to them.
This is a psychometric kind of sensitivity and it interest me a lot. Do you ever get 'jolts' from objects or certain materials when you touch them?
I'm just curious, so not a test question or owt. [thumbup]

Re: Greetings!
Hey there HiramSmith, welcome aboard.
I'm interested to ask you about your experiences in Freemasonry (that is, obviously, those parts you can talk about freely).
Was it your interest in the occult that drew you to Freemasonry in the first place? I've heard that certain Lodges (and I must admit I know very little about the different branches of Freemasonry) have quite a few occult teachings; is this the case? I am also under the impression that there are certain Rosicrucian orders that are only open to Freemasons, and closely parallel the Masonic rituals. Perhaps this is an avenue you could explore?
Barrage of questions over. Looking forward to future discussions. [crazy]
