Have any of you considered a meetup?
Have any of you considered a meetup?
I always found a great way learn of occult practices is when someone teaches them to you. This brings me to ask, Have any of you met up with your online colleagues to discuss occult topics in person, and if so how did it turn out?
Re: Have any of you considered a meetup?
Personally, I have never met an online occult practionner. Mostly because I am a lone practionner at heart, but also because I never developped any kind of meaningful relationship with online users based on occult studies for me to consider this as a serious possiblity.
And then there is the fact that the web is international. There'd to be some serious travelling involed as far I am concerned (being a french canadian lurking in english-language forums), unless you seek only people from your own country/area.

I have done it once before my come back on the Path but it was with people within my country boarders.
I may have some tiny curiosity about this plan but I would have to know lot of time before and I am not so sure I would like to travel far(just could not make it financialy). But, who knows...

They've become some of my best real life friends and 'adopted' family.

Indeed I can attest the same as Rosered, however I met them in person and then online, so sort of the other way around!

Re: Have any of you considered a meetup?
I've met up with Vashta a couple of times and I really enjoyed it.
We went to a Psychic fair at Edinburgh Masonic Halls, a beautiful old building in it's own right and we were in our element, so to speak, we played singing bowls, trawledround all the stalls several times and bought some fripperies then chatted over coffee and a sandwich.
Second time we went to see the Wiches and Wicked Bodies exhibition, which I was very excited about as we got to see this painting, by my fave Pre Raphaelite artist, up close and persona, online representations really don't do the vibrant colours in it, proper justice, you know :

... as well as Goya, Blake and other artists, visionaries, poets and also the decriers works on or about Witches and Witchcraft, in Europe in times past.
We both know Latin too and totally geeked out over the old Witchcraft Books especially the Malleus and A Dsicoverie of Witchcraft.
I like meeting interesting minds and I love a wee train journey, so my experiences have been awesome so far.

I like party and kind people. That is why I registered here so. As long as we will stay in Europe with meet up plans there is a chance I will be there. [thumbup]

I'm in the UK,so Europe is within my possibilities for travel, as long as there is a bit of time to arrange things. [thumbup]
I'm starting Uni soon and will be working part time too, so I'd need a fair bit of forward notice to make plans.

I've met some practitioners in person before, which was pretty cool as it was interesting to talk about stuff face to face. However that has only been a handful of times.
From what I can gather there's not alot of practitioners in my area, though I'd love to meet up with anyone, though I'm more or less limited to southern Ontario for travel.

Time is but an illusion in perception and is only perceived to pass by at the same moments together for us all... which is, quite frankly, me saying to not expect from me in a timely manner!

Guess I'm the only one in the US so far. I would love to and have gone to several "pagan" events that were absolutely wonderful. I wouldn't mind meeting several people from here as they seem quite interesting and like good people but I tend to be quite shy and awkward. Not to mention I am always a bit wary of meeting people from the internet.

There are sensible protocols to follow for meet ups.
Always meet in a public place, inform friends/relatives where you are going, make sure phone is on and charged and exchange mobile nos with others you are meeting before hand, in case of mix ups or getting lost etc.
If I was going far enough, I'd be pre- booking accomodation for an overnight stay and reconning the place I'm going to beforehand also. [thumbup]

Re: Have any of you considered a meetup?
I was very sceptical in my first meeting, I was little scared and did not know what to expect but everything turned out wonderful so I am more open to this kind of meet up. But it is good that people worry, that means they think and have some unaswered questions about some people. With people from the field of interest I found that the most "scary" ones are often the kindest.
Good advise from Nahemah. My first meeting was in a Pub in my town so I felt ultra comfortable. We got few beers and had a talk for about 4-6h. Every kind of topic was touched and few friends were made.
Would you like to meet for all day long? few hours? weekend?
In my case I could say whatever but it all is predetermined with when and where we are going to meet. [cool]
