What do Pentagram/ Hexagram rituals do?

I am tryoing to learn these rituals, which do not look difficult;

Lesser banishing ritual of the Pentagram (i know this as the first one to use, and the last one before performing any other.)

Greater banishing ritual of the Pentagram
Greater invoking ritual of the Pentagram
Lesser banishing ritual of the Hexagram
Lesser invoking ritual of the Hexagram
Greater banishing ritual of the Hexagram
Greater invoking ritual of the Hexagram

I read them from Thelempedia, but they are not really clear of why and the what these rituals does it exactly do, other than writing about some energies and balances.

I'd like to get some more descriptions of the what and the why should I use these.
