Prana
What is it and what happens if you have too much of it?
??? Prana
Re: ??? Prana
Similar to Qi, life force, vital energy, based on my understanding.
I dont think there is such a thing as too much, but energy must flow, if not given an outlet its very.... Uncomfortable and can lead to destructive behavior.

Re: ??? Prana
If I have experienced it in the way I think I have - either by blockage or otherwise - a tan-tian (there are three primaries AFAIK) will spill over into it's relative body cavern like one of Crowley's cups and in essence your abdomen and pelvis or which ever other tan-tian it is will feel like you have cool water sloshing around in a whirlpool motion or like you have a goldfish swimming laps around your tan-tian.
That might not get you too far on problems it causes but it might at least be a faithful diagnostic.

You don't have to do a thing perfect, just relentlessly.

It's the Sanskrit/Yoga word for the breath-life-force, Rose. Energy. You already know what happens when you accumulate too much or get blockages and stuff. The Yogis just go into very deep detail with energetic anatomy, analyzing the Nadis/Meridians that flow through the central nervous system and a bunch of other things regarding its nature. The Chinese have a similarly rich tradition of analyzing the inner energy and its anatomy. We might have ended up with similar stuff in the West, but we killed most of our initiates instead of treating them like the East does. [tongue]
You can take a look at the Science of Breath book, the early chapters have an explanation of it via Yogi Tradition put in plain English, and rest of the book has good breathing exercises, including exercises for self-healing and such that use the Energy in specific ways.

Re: ??? Prana
When I have too much prana from rituals or other energy work (especially abstaining from sex), it helps to keep it circulating up the spine and down the front channel (like swallowing light that has been raised to the crown) -- the microcosmic orbit. Helps to keep the tounge pressed against the roof of the mouth.
Then after a work, project the extra into the earth or center it comfortablY behind the naval, at your center.

Free yourself from the seduction of words.

Yes RoseRed , the science of breath explains it very well. To say it in one word it is the life-force, but it is a bit vague definition. Also from the exercises that I tried in that book, there is the Nerve Vitalizing Breath. You should try it. It gathers prana and sends to your nerve centers, and you can feel it phisiologically and physically.
Re: ??? Prana
I came across an article the other day, and of course, I can't find it now.
Anyways, it said that with an abundance of prana that one of the best ways to release it is to channel it into creative energies. To use it instead of just sloughing it off.
