Greetings.
I, for One is simply uncomfortable with doing the LBRP. In my person opinions I regard as Yahweh or so called other version, Jehovah saturn-like to a sense. If anyone is kind enough here to assist me with finding a LBRP alternative or similar would be fine. I'm trying to look for anything in High magick rituals of alternative LBRP, classic or old, whatever your terminology for this "alternative" is that you can share. To bring more clarification, I seek to cleanse energies of an area/house/place. Aren't there LBRP-alternative rituals in Renaissance magick? (i.e Stellar, both planetary and astrologically speaking. Elemental and, or celestial magicks)
I'm well aware of Sage and other herbs benefiting this, but it isn't a ritual. However, anything you share is fine.
Thank's everyone. [yay]

Re: LBRP Alternatives?
There aren't any rituals quite like the LBRP much further back. High Magick as you're thinking of it (influenced by the GD as the term now is) isn't really that classical. Western Occultists did not believe that magick could be done with personal power until about Eliphas Levi, who pretty much changed everything, and the rituals of the Golden Dawn and their peers were pretty much the climax of that shift in practice. Things have changed more since then, but no need to make this a thread on history. I would also argue about the relevance of your opinions on Yahweh to the actual function of the properly performed Pentagram Rituals, but that's not important either. [geek2]
If you just want to do cleansings, just do some old school low magick a la smudge brooms or incense, bells or even the good old holy banishment of "get the fuck out of my house!" It's not that hard to banish and cleanse a room, but you can make it as ceremonial as you like. If anything, the ceremonial mindset helps quite a bit, but you shouldn't get hung up on foolish romanticized ideals when something simple can get the job done just as well. The LBRP isn't originally supposed to be an external banishing ritual anyway. It's supposed to be used to change things inside you, and the changes that happen in the room are nothing but a minor side effect if you do it right.
If you want to acquire the skills and do the actual work of High Magick, more classically known as Theurgy, then you might benefit from reading and practicing the work of Franz Bardon, and then reading old books like The Picatrix once you have a stable foundation. There are many other books you could and perhaps should eventually read, but Bardon provides a very simple and clear introduction to the mysteries. Once you have certain success with his work, the things in the old books are a lot easier to understand.

Re: LBRP Alternatives?
Noted, I hath already planned on buying these books you mentioned. You clear to me much more on adding the word "Theurgy", perhaps it could be that what exactly I was looking for to add to my preferred practice. Thank you.Shinichi wrote:There aren't any rituals quite like the LBRP much further back. High Magick as you're thinking of it (influenced by the GD as the term now is) isn't really that classical. Re: LBRP Alternatives?
Try chaos magic banishing rituals. They don't work for me well though. LBRP works the best for me. I have another alternative that I am trying to work on. It is the Druid 'Sphere of Protection' ritual.

Re: LBRP Alternatives?
I was reminded that there are several Golden Dawn offshoots where the LBRP and the other rituals were heavily modified, yet remain generally functional. The only offshoots I've actually examined are those discussed by John Michael Greer though. He wrote a book called The Celtic Golden Dawn, where he organized the efforts of W. B. Yeats and other GD members who were drawn into the Celtic mythos and began Celtic versions of the Golden Dawn in Ireland and elsewhere. Rather than a single LBRP, in the second grade (the Celtic Golden Dawn has three grades: Ovate, Bard, Druid) there are four pentagram rituals that essentially do the same thing as the GD LBRP (internal energy work), and there are also different godnames. CERNUNNOS, for example, is the godname used for the Earth Pentagram. The other three rituals have pagan godnames too.
Dunno if this information will really help you, but if the Judeo-Christian theme of Golden Dawn Ritual is the only thing really hindering you and you want to do ritual magick like this, perhaps the rituals in Greers book will be useful to you. I think there are Egyptian versions of the LBRP and others as well, but I've not really studied any of that closely.
