I've been trying to do the pendulum form of divination and I can't seem to make it move. I can see the chain wobble but it's so irregular and the tip of the pendulum doesn't bulge much. When I ask it a question I know such as, "Am I a girl?", it sometimes move a tiny bit in one direction then in mid turning it turn the opposite direction. When I ask a no type question it repeats the same movements for the yes type q's that I know.

try asking a questions that you dont know...sometimes if u know the answer or want a certain answer your wrist might slightly move and ruin your results...you may not even know it. If your having trouble getting the pedulum to work try quieting your mind a bit, calm yourself and find your center. By the way what kind of pendulm do u have...did u make one or buy one. Like most things making one yourself works the best. I made one out of a crappy plastic ring and some string...both were found on the ground. Hopefully my rambling has helped.....

For me pedullums go in circles. For this reason I use them to locate things and dowsing rather than for divination.

What you do for yes no questions is you ask the pendullum. Make sure it's still then ask it: Show me yes. Then stop it and remember the direction it went it. Then ask: Show me no. Then ask your questions :)

For locating and dowsing which I use mine for the faster, crazier and wider the circles the closer you are :) at least that's how it works for me :)

Have you cleansed your pendulem? Also meditate on it, carry it around with you so it absorbs your energy. I known someone who had one and found out that it didn't belong to her, so it had always lied to her. She finally however was able to make it hers. Of course she learned Reiki and healed it. Just a suggestion :)

^ interesting suggustions. So If it doesn't respon should I somehow charge it with my energy and eventually it might work? Has anybody started out with a non working pendulum as in it didn't even swing at all?

Charging could work for your pendulum. Maybe putting it into a bowl of salt to cleanse it first.

I had trouble with a commercial pendulum once. It helped to hold it differently...to give myself as little physical control over it as possible. Because it was not a creation of mine, I could not (at first - until it got to know me) treat it as an extension of myself.
For some reason, yours may be...shy? I don't know.
The pendulum I purchased (It was pretty, I wanted it. I learned I like my found-object homemade one better...live and learn)...anyway, it had a little knobby bar thing on the end of the chain to hold onto. I placed my hand palm-up, and rested the bar across the knuckles of my middle and ring fingers. Then I spent a good hour instructing it alternately "Show me a yes. Show me a no" until I was getting consistent results. I then proceeded to ask questions with acceptable results.
Maybe it will help.

Love and light,
Kæreste
