Question about celestial body Chiron

Post by Occult Forum Archive »

Original post: Who Am I

Good day mates, does anyone who's an adept in Astrology know the temperment (if there is one) with the celestial body Chiron. To my understanding it has healing properties and such but I can't find anything pertaining to its nature (good, evil, indifferent, etc). I am asking this question because I am thinking about constructing a talisman of health. Thanks everyone.

The mythology behind chiron is roughly as follows. Chiron was born of a god father (zeus?) and a human mother. Because of this he was immortal. For some reason (I cant exactly remeber the story) he was struck with a poison arrow which made him very sick, but since he was immortal he could not die. Instead he had to live with the illness forever. From this experience, instead of being angry and sad he went on to heal others. wherever chiron is found in an individuals birth chart is where we carry our deepest wounds, but it is from these wounds that we can go on to heal others and offer something to the world.

Now, as far as your question goes, modern astrologers tend to shy away from the words good and evil. In ancient days, some of the planets were viewed as benefic and malefic but that type of stark contrast has greatly subsided in the practice of astrology. Anyways, that would not pertain to Chiron since it is not a planet but rather an asteroid/comet.

I would read a better interpretation of the myth of Chiron before making a talisman, it may not be what you had in mind. Marsilio Ficino was a Renaissance astrologer/magus who was big on talismans, so you might want to look at his "liber de vita" to get some ideas. Traditionally, Jupiter is associated with good health and bouyancy.

Have fun, and Id be very interested to know what you end up doing and how it works for you.

[/QUOTE]I have read something similar to what you have posted. I am curious though, about the Liber you speak of from the mage you spoke of earlier. You wouldn't be able to direct me to a link to his works would you? And as for the talisman, I have not constructed it yet, but I have made a sigil for the same purpose. I am thinking about using a Chaos approach to making the talisman. Maybe using Jupiter would be beneficial to me; I was however warned against using Mars, something about it being volatile. But thanks for your input dreaminglife.

I found Ficinos liber de vita at the San Francisco Public Library. Just do a google search or go to your nearest big library.

Hey, dont know much about talismans or anything... but I can tell you this. There is a certain sacrifice that goes with the healing energy of Chiron. It is like hitting the lowest lows, the depths of insanity and suffering before that gets transmuted into healing. It isn't pretty at first. One with this ability is almost a martyr (but not by choice)... a little different though. It is a hard path but ultimately maybe the most rewarding.

absolutely right.
i have chiron in my first house and my whole life is a series of losses and complete transformations. thanks to astrology i have learned how to harness chirons energy and make the most out of my intense and traumatic life experiences.
the best social example of chiron would be the guy "Americas Most Wanted". his son was kidnapped and murdered and he went on to start that show which has captured hundreds of thousands of criminals.
