I am a member of A.M.O.R.C I think it is a nice and supportive order. But it is hard to say if someone should join without knowing what they wish from such a membership. But in my opinion, good order though a little bit pricey for membership. Or at least they are pricey here in Scandinavia.

What is the point of paying to join an order? If it was properly motivated, it should be welcoming in like minded people regardless of finances, while the members who join support it by their own efforts rather than a cash flow system.

I do not agree, sending out study materials, having houses to have meetings and initiations, keeping web pages, all of such things for a huge group cost allot of money and there have to be some way to generate that kind of money. And A.M.O.R.C is rather flexible when it comes to pepole that absolutely can not pay their price. I think they are to expensive, but that there should not be any sort of member fee to join a given order, that is often not possible. Everything costs, and something have to pay the order's expenses. And it is just not realistic that the members should do all the work that need to be done them self and by that eliminate the need for payment. Just look at forums, how many of us are not active members of forums that need money but do not even pay a small token amount to help the fee out. Some pepole will always be motivated, but far to many pepole will if a member fee is not mandatory and work for the order is not mandatory just not do it. I see nothing wrong with a order taking a membership fee, as long as it is reasonable.
