A little gem..

Post by Vashta »

So here's a little gem I stumbled across while looking for something to get the ball rolling in this board:

http://freeware.esoterica.free.fr/html/main.html

They have a lot of links for free occult software, which I intend to download some of and give it a try (although being a linux user, I may have some difficulty :P )

I thought I'd start with some rune casting software, and take it from there... reviews to follow ^_^

So, I didn't find an awful lot of runes software that would run on linux, however this tarot program:
http://www.winsite.com/bin/Info?500000021266

Ran easily. I just installed wine, no extra configuration was required, the software installed and ran perfectly.

It's a nice little tarot program, with three spreads and nice, concise explanations of the meanings of the cards. The graphics are nice, although a little small on my screen (which may simply be because I'm running it on linux, windows users, let us know ^_^ )

I would recommend it for a quick reading, or perhaps to help familiarise yourself with the cards somewhat. The meanings given are somewhat brief, but to the point. Also includes the numerological values of the cards, which is a nice touch.

And another bit of tarot software on the same site, called FreeTarot.
http://www.portalpsychic.com/ or for the file directly:
http://www.portalpsychic.com/programa/FreeTarot.zip

This one is interesting, since it doesn't deal the spread out visibly, and I'm no particular expert on tarot (I read casually, but I don't know all the spreads), so I haven't identified the spread it's using.

5 cards, major arcana only. The pictures are quite nice, the meanings however are very very brief. Mildly broken English, but nothing that would obscure the meaning, and the descriptions for the function of the card (IE what it represents as aspect of the draw) are extremely good. Hmm 3.5 stars? :D

On the old forum there was a link to some Chaos Magick spell casting programs, you do not happen to have those links do you as I would like to reinstall some of those programs on my new computer.

I'm not 100% sure, do you remember which board it was on, or the title of the thread? I could query the database and see what comes back, although I'm not sure if the results would be the same as the search feature

It was under the Chaos Magick forum I remember but I do not remember the name of the post.
