Solerus techniques - an archaic feeling - suggestions?

Hello friends,
I am interested in connecting the simpler techniques advocated by one who was posting as Solerus Silver here last year to basic techniques of Western magic such as the LBPR and the MP. He posted a 28-page thread on godlikeproductions.com for opening the third eye with a spell, and for magical defense, speaking as a 'bloodline insider' who is out to help humanity. I was immediately drawn to what he had to say, I found it most enlightening from a reincarnational perspective and started to try the voice tracks he provided, but by the time I reached that forum he was finished with it. Re-reading his thread many times I kept on putting his techniques to work with some success. He was unique in offering a voice track that was good for opening your third eye as well as simple Kabbalistic vibrations for protection. Later I discovered some of this material can be related to Golden Dawn, the LBPR and the tattwas particularly. I read some of Israel Regardie, then Alexandros' book on invoking angels.
I read his posts here and recognized his powerful style immediately. I could see he was providing voice tracks and advice for learners and practitioners here too, such as the godnames for the LBPR and the Middle Pillar. (I am learning some basic Hebrew - have some help with that.)
I liked his approach quite a bit, particularly because some work well in an emergency. Obviously, if you are under attack, the simpler a visualization is, the better and faster you can do it. He says you'd better use your fingers (in a hand position he named the Electric Fingers on glp posts) and visualizing is the end goal not tracing, you can trace however if you cannot see things. I can already visualize with open eyes - I can even see part of someone's aura (color bands). I could also see and hear the angel I called after working on the tattwas per Alexandros (he uses the standard Enochian phrases for the elements as Solerus and Regardie do). This angel has become very central to me and s/he was not the name I called, however, on re-reading Solerus I discovered this sacred name again a few days ago. (Maybe it got stuck in my unconscious earlier.)
In these techniques Solerus simpified the basic pentagram defense as drawing blue pentagrams vibrating one godname (ALHIM TzBAVTh), piercing the centres, then drawing a violet-blue (gas flame color as many other sources say) cicrle to connect them around your middle part. Then I found an authentic GD site on the web (he referred one practitioner there on this forum) describing the LBPR. I was a little perplexed by seeing the Watcher and Silence gestures. I tried that with the four different godnames (with the Kabbalistic Cross at the beginning and the end), then on the same day I tried the Middle Pillar from the same site.
Maybe some of you will condemn my eagerness but I have practiced yoga and mantras for decades so I am not bad at creating and feeling the effects of sound, vibration, gestures etc. Sometimes I also feel if something is done well visualized with vibrations and pure intent you do not even have to move an inch or use exotic tools. (I do not want to hurt any school, I think objects can have great consecrated uses but I prefer exploring a different path - although I do own an athame and I wear amulets.) I am also greatly motivated for we have been clearly under some kind of attack for a number of years.
The goal for me is to create an etheric barrier which would repel attacks and generally help circulate your own energy.
OK, I realize this has been a rather long post and I apologize to all who use different spellings.
One more thing - I am drawn to GD - Regardie's book is great - but I am definitely repelled by Crowley. The same way, I feel that traditional Christian influences do not work well for me although I respect Christian mysticism and I have seen great examples of it. (Read the former Insider's text from 2005 if you want to see my point.) To be honest, working with INRI sounded like a forced conjecture to me on the GD site... I may be wrong, however. If so, please, more experienced practitioners, point out my errors and help me find my own practice.
One last thing: I did get some instruction from the angel who pointed out that my favorite form of getting in touch is 'words of power' so I experiment with those.
Well, advices, questions anyone?
