Am I right in assuming this place is quiet?
Hello,
Am I right in assuming that this place is going through a bit of a quiet spell at the moment, or have all the posters left or something? I've been looking through all the profiles and it looks like OF only has at the most five active members now, which is a bit sad really.
I dont mind being a member on a dead forum - I have been before, but I'm just wondering if this is the kind of place you check up on every day or the kind of place you leave for a month and then check back on after a fair amount of time has passed, you know?

Yeah it seems a bit that way to me too, which is a shame since I haven't found any other decent boards for this kind of discussion :|

I check this site a couple of times a day, but I can't always reply because the threads are often out of my realm of expertise or sometimes my eyes roll despite myself. I'm also on another board, which is promising to be very active and very well put together with the odd bit of fluff thrown in . I'm hoping this site (OF) starts to speed up so I can truly enjoy the stay.

Most online forums are relatively quiet at this time of year,as far as my experience goes anyway.I've been foruming for a long time and despite the fact that I am naturally biased towards our forum here,I 've found this place better than others for a number of reasons, well before I became a staff member.
It's far from dead.Just saying.
Meh,you tend to get back out what you put in with forums,Ymmv,of course, but I 've found this to be true.
This forum has been quiet at times, but no more so than others I am a member at,or have been a member of previously and we do have more than five active members, actually, lol.
This place is promising,as far as I 'm concerned, but if you are unhappy with it,that is your prerogative.of course.

I'm not unhappy with this place at all, I was merely commenting on there not being a whole lot of posting going on here is all. As to the number of active people, it was merely an observation of posters over a couple of days of scanning profiles and watching who came and went, nothing more. Like I said, I'm happy to be a member on a quiet forum - I was on the KIA proboards for quite a while when Count Anton only had three of us regularly visiting, Ive weathered Occult Corpus' quiet patches, and many others in their very slow times - no dramas here.
As for things only being what you put into them, I think my post count over the last couple of days is speaking for itself - I'm not holding back here my friend, I'm determined to play an active role in this place even if it is quiet.

Another thing to bear in mind is that (at least in my experience) the larger a forum is, the greater number of immature/'fluffy'/delusional/trollish posters you end up with. I did a lot of looking around before I landed on this place, and this one seems by far the most mature and even minded.
Best thing you can do to help is keep posting and instigate interesting and lively discussion. This will make more people want to register and take part when they come across the board.

Well, I plan on sticking around and posting stuff here - I can access this site from work and it gives me something to do to keep myself sane, plus its interesting and full of things I havent read yet, so I cant see myself leaving for a while yet. I'm guessing Nahemah either took offence to me saying this place was dead or misread my comments as meaning I wasnt happy, but I am, so yeah. I'll just go back to reading stuff and commenting on things as I find them I guess.

Yes,Case,I thought you were not happy here.
I didn't understand the OP,it reads like negative criticism,or at least it did at 5.00am this morning,to me.Sorry for that.I know you've posted a lot already and I was very pleased as your knowledge is a most welcome addition here.
I work hard here and I do a lot behind the scenes, but activity here is not always obvious as the pm system is not publically visible. We are active,it just dosen't always look like it and there are lulls.I am also tired and dealing with a lot at home right now,so a little edgy perhaps on my part, which I can only apologise for, once again.
We also have a lot of view counts especially on recent topics, this shows there is a growing interest and we are trying to stimulate discussion and growth, but I know a lot of people lurk before joining in as I do also, when looking at a new site I 'm interested in,so hopefully membership will expand over time,as folk decide to join in.
I 'm glad you want to stick around and thank you Rin for your commentary here also. [thumbup]

I actually add comedic filler to the board to fatten it up.
