Who's watching what on TV lately?

Post by Rin »

No forum is complete without a TV series suggestion thread, and I couldn't find one so here we go :D

Currently I'm loving Archer. It's an animated comedy about a spy agency, kind of 007 & Get Smart meets Arrested Development & South Park (incidently, it has a lot of the same writers as Arrested Development, so if you loved that, you'll like it). Currently in it's third season and I just spent an episode laughing my ass off. Should be easy to find on any of the normal torrent sources.

Also, Modern Family. I was surprised by this one because I usually hate family based comedy/drama's, but the writing is amazing and as a consequence most episodes are hilarious. Sofia Vergara as Gloria doesn't hurt either ;)

Image

Though they're currently between seasons, Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy are both well worth watching. The former is a dark comedy/drama about a 40-something high school teacher who gets diagnosed with lung cancer and decides to take up a career as a meth cook to earn enough money for his family to survive when he's gone, and the latter follows a group of gun-running bikies in California as they struggle to hold their club together and find out how far they're willing to go to protect their families. Either of these series is well worth a download.

What are you guys watching lately?

I 'm not much of a TV fan,I 'm afraid,lol.

I will occasionally watch a documentary or two,if it's something of interest to me,but I lack the attention span for most shows.I get bored and fidgety.I do watch a few progs, but it's mostly stand up comedy or a couple of classic British shows when they rerun.Ab Fab,The Young ones,Mighty Boosh,Pythons,Kenny Everett and Spike Milligan and anything with Eddie Izzard in,cos I love him.

Hubby watches breaking bad and I must admit,I do like it,it's extremely funny and we do love black humour here in Glasgow.I also watch the Sons, being of similar ilk,in the past, allegedly,it entertains me and I did like playing spot the Sonny Barger cameo, lol.,even tho' hubby had no clue who he was.Duh,on him, lolololol.

Hubby is also following American Horror Story, atm,I find it overly convuluted, but the acting is strong from all the cast but especially Jessica Lange,it's worth watching just for her and the recent Black Dahlia twist was brilliant too.

I hardly watch TV too, but lately Ive been watching Criminal Minds and Outnumbered, which is a really funny British comedy where they let the kids ad-lib their lines. Other than that, I basically avoid television.

I can't bring myself to watch the news these days, it's either depressing, boring or propaganda :| I keep up with events online mostly.

Yeah, I'm the same, Rin - I cant stand how one sided the news is, or how small minded and local it feels. I much prefer to get my news off the internet news servers, where I can read something other than local gossip and celebrity bullshit.

Yup, at the least, you have more sources available to view issues from multiple perspectives, even if there's no such thing as a true lack of bias.

Lol, I have no idea who that is either...
"Ralph Hubert "Sonny" Barger (born October 8, 1938 in Modesto, California) is a founding member (1957) of the Oakland, California, U.S. chapter of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Barger

"Barger was one of the Hells Angels present at The Rolling Stones' Altamont Free Concert in 1969. He is also a prominent figure in Hunter S. Thompson's bestselling book, Hell's Angels: The Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.

On November 30, 2010, Barger made a short guest appearance on the season 3 finale of the FX Television series Sons Of Anarchy as Lenny "The Pimp" Janowitz, about a fictional Outlaw motorcycle club, allegedly based on the Hells Angels. Show creator Kurt Sutter spent time with Barger and other members of Hells Angel's researching for the show, and acted opposite Barger in his scene. Barger has returned once again on the Sons Of Anarchy as Lenny "The Pimp" Janowitz November 29, 2011 on the Season 4 finale part one."

Which season is Dexter up to now? I watched seasons 1 - 4 a year or so ago, but never got around to watching the next one when it came out.

The only non-comedy TV series I watch is Supernatural. I recommend it. It's way off on the occult "reality", but has lots of lore, mythology, drama, horror etc.

T.V.... ugh lol

I don't watch much of it myself, and the stuff I like is certainly love it or hate it kinda stuff. 'Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job', 'The Eric Andre Show', and 'Check it Out! with Doctor Steve Brule' are among my favorites, because I love absurdist humor and that's pretty much the cream of the crop. I certainly understand how some people find it uncomfortable or stupid, it is, that's what makes it funny lol!

More serious fare though, nothing modern really, other than Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. I dug Twin Peaks, but that's old as crap, can't think of anything else off the top of my head though. Was always more of a discovery channel guy when I had the t.v. on.

Oh and I still love WWE. Compared with the good old days, it's not worth a damn, but I've got the wrestling bug, so I'm screwed. Compared with the past 8 years though, they really have made dramatic improvements. It's almost to the point that I'd recommend normal people try watching it again lol!

I don`t really watch tv directly, but I look stuff which would come in tv.

At the moment I`m totally into My Little Pony, love this series. I also started watch Littlest Pet Shop. I generally like watching cartoons. (Adventure Time, American Dad and so on)

When I do zap on tv, I`m most likely will stop on a cartoon or documentary. Some tv program have website, where you can watch some stuff their showed, I sometimes use this chance.

I also love watching animes, but since their may not come in tv anyway, I watch them online or buy the dvd.

I think I would watch more series, if I could shop in american iTunes. (Their don`t let me buy their stuff, because I have no american address and credit card...) And many stuff from amercian iTunes don`t comes to swiss iTunes...

Netflix, so for all intents and purposes tv :p

I've started watching heroes from season 1, it's interesting the bits you pick up on that slipped by you the first time through, knowing the twists and turns of the story actually makes a second watch still pretty cool ^_^

That was a good season, it's a shame the writer's strike killed the show. Honestly there would be no show without the writers.

I don't have a TV licence or any means to watch anything other than internet telly, quite on purpose... the internet provides me with breaking bad (hello fellow fans!) and other things I occasionally fancy when pissed like family guy and dylan moran stand up (I generally have the sense of humour of a British 70 year old hippy or other parts of the world's 12 year old boys - wow that's a weird sentence). Television mostly just annoys me.

I have these friends who are all about downton abbby at the moment - anybody seen that? - so I watch it at the inlaws place yesterday and, basically? Eastenders for people who would like to think themselves above Eastenders. Totally... well, not my thing.

Books for escapism and real life for soap opera silliness, although i'm always happy to watch something if somebody recommends it. (Through this I have seen all programmes listed above - heroes was cool right? For a while? Maybe supernatural deserves some points for men who wear small towels often and cry unashamedly at Emotional Life Things. I love criminal minds, possibly because I have a bronze swimming certificate in psych and was particularly interested in criminal psych - I can usually name the real life criminal that the episodes explore and that's just fun. Outnumbered is fucking funny because I used to watch it with my mother in law. Case will understand.)
Your head's like mine, like all our heads; big enough to contain every god and devil there ever was. Big enough to hold the weight of oceans and the turning stars. Whole universes fit in there! But what do we choose to keep in this miraculous cabinet? Little broken things, sad trinkets that we play with over and over. The world turns our key and we play the same little tune again and again and we think that tunes are all we are.

Yeah, the writers strike did pretty much kill heroes, it was a shame, that season was shaping up to be good but they fudged it all up a bit when they tried to condense it into like 2 episodes..

I might have to start watching supernatural, it sounds good.

I'm also in the intentionally no tv camp, but I do watch Netflix a lot more than I should...

I don't watch much TV, I did recently get into the Walking Dead. Good show, zombie apocalypse. I like Ancient Aliens...every once in awhile I watch Supernatural...like I said good eye candy (two hot guys ladies, rare in a tv show) in addition to good show. [thumbup] Most of the time I'm busy doing something magick related to remember to watch tv. Oh when it's on (it has a very short season) I love Destination Truth on syfy.

My favorite show is Northern Exposure. It's quirky and poetic. At times mystic and
cathartic. Love it.

I also like Firefly, Joss Wheadons sf show.
